Kristin Runge for Village of Waunakee President

Hi Neighbors! I'm seeking your support for Village President.

04/05/2023

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Thank you so much for placing your trust in me and giving me the opportunity to serve our community.

Over the past months, I have met so many incredible people who share the same love and passion for our community. I am grateful for all of the support, encouragement, and guidance that you have given me along the way.

I would like to take a moment to thank Nila Frye for her dedication to Waunakee and its residents. If you have the good fortune to know Nila, then you know first-hand how devoted she is to our community and how she is a faithful champion for residents. I will be honored to serve alongside her on the Board of Trustees.

I also want to thank President Chris Zellner and trustees Phil Willems and Gary Herzberg for their tireless work on behalf of our Village. To live in Waunakee is to live in a growing and ever-changing community. As Chris, Phil, and Gary retire from their elected posts we owe them a debt of gratitude for guiding our Village and making Waunakee the home we all love.

Congratulations to Sam Kaufman, Tricia Braun and Robert McPherson for their election/re-election to the Board of Trustees. I look forward to working with you as well as with our continuing trustees, Joe, Erin and Nila.

I am excited to get to work. Together, let's continue to make Waunakee one of the best places to live in Wisconsin.

Thank you again for your trust and support.

Sincerely,
Kristin Runge

On Leadership and Libraries

I have been wanting to comment on the recent social media posts and news coverage regarding the Waunakee Public Library.

After first hearing about a potential controversy, I contacted the Village President and Village Administrator to better understand what was being discussed on social media and to better understand the facts.

Since position taking by those who are not directly involved in an issue can be problematic, I chose not to comment until after the Village had issued its statement and the Channel3000 interview of our community librarian had been aired.

Since the Village statement has been posted and the interview has aired, I want to reiterate my support for the library and the important work that our library does. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the role they play in the community.

It is inevitable that citizens will ask hard questions of their local governments. Good leaders listen respectfully, investigate, and address their concerns politely and professionally. I believe this principle has been upheld.

The official library statement can be found here:
