So very proud of these two kids!! They worked their buts off this summer! Huge thank you to all the family and friends who helped out getting the kids where they needed to be, staying over night at shows with them, feeding them, helping clean up the sheep, all when I couldn't be there at different points of the summer! You all know who you are!
Alyssa brought home the buckle!!

π¨ the D.A.M Sheep Farm Swag Shop is now LIVE!!! π¨
The kids have been working so hard with their sheep and have big dreams! We decided that we wanted to open up a swag shop after we had several people tell us they wanted official D.A.M Sheep Farm swag, and for them to be able to raise funds for those dreams.
Thank you so much for supporting the kids and their sheep adventures!!

Here's to, "If you have it ready you won't need it!" π
Well it's been a busy week here! Opal surprised us all and lambed twins at 135 days, 2/13/23! That is the earliest we've EVER had a ewe lamb. Needless to say with her being who we thought would lamb last, had her blanket still on and the lamb gate wasn't up. So her delivery was a bit stressed. She knocked over a gate, had her first lamb, a ram, and worked on cleaning him up. She then popped out her second lamb, a ewe, and started to clean her up. The ram lamb then crawled into his Grandma's pen and Opal was really upset. Sasha helped him get back in with Opal and everything was ok. She went back to cleaning up her ewe lamb and then the ram walked around the gate that was knocked off the hanger and into Lily's pen. He got "stuck" in her pen for about 15-20 minutes. Lily didn't seem to mind him in there and didn't help him get back to Opal. Opal was not happy! She worked hard to get him to walk back which he eventually did. With all that my guess is that she was so busy with him that she didn't really get to bond with her ewe lamb and as a result.....we have our first bottle lamb! After we got home from work we observed that every time she went to nurse Opal would shift her weight and not let her eat. Eventually she started physically pushing her away pretty roughly. Even knocked her into the gate. We didn't want to take the chance of her really getting hurt so we made the decision to pull her and bring her in the house. Alyssa took her out to help her nurse off Opal throughout the night and the next day so she could get colostrum from Opal. We have been bottle feeding the ewe lamb since and she seems to be doing really well.
She has actually become the temporary class pet in my classroom! Perfect timing because I'm teaching Zoology in our culture lessons!
Her name is Jade and the ram's name is Anthony Stark who we call Tony for short.
Then on Sunday, Dayton 500 day, Sophie lambed 2 ewes!! Everything went perfectly and they are doing great! Dylan is still working on their names.
We are now just waiting on Lily to lamb which could be any time!
Never a dull moment on our D.A.M Sheep Farm! π

I get us home from Louisville!
Well, today definitely had it's fair share of blood sweat and tears. I cut my finger on the electric trimmers, trimmed poor Lily's hoof a little too short, and to top it all off our truck broke down and our mechanic tried his best but he just couldn't get it fixed today.......but we made it! Thanks to Grandma's truck and a whole team of family and friends, we are back in Louisville for the North American International Livestock Exposition 2022!!
Have a wonderful Halloween!
π₯³ Happy Woolly Wednesday, and Happy National Farmer's Day to all of our Merino Sheep Farmers!
Hope you had a great one!! π₯³
