Now in Effect: Alabama Law will Help Encourage the Use of Gold and Silver as Money

What do you think about this?

Imagine if you asked a grocery clerk to break a $5 bill and he charged you a 35 cent tax. Silly, right? After all, you were only exchanging one form of money for another. But that’s essentially what Alabama’s sales tax on gold and silver bullion did. By removing the sales tax on the exchange of gold and silver, Alabama will treat specie as money instead of a commodity. This represents a small step toward reestablishing gold and silver as legal tender and breaking down the Fed’s monopoly on money.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (June 1, 2018) – Today, an Alabama law exempting the sale of gold and silver bullion from state sales and use tax, encouraging its use and taking the first step toward breaking the Federal Reserve’s monopoly on money went into effect.

Vietnam Veterans Day commemorates the sacrifices of Vietnam veterans and their families and is part of a national effort to recognize the men and women who were denied a proper welcome upon returning home more than forty years ago.

The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act, signed into law on Tuesday, March 28th, 2017, designates March 29th of each year as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

Most states celebrate “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” on March 29th or 30th of each year. Though there is some debate, March 29th is generally viewed as a more appropriate date. On that day in 1973, the last combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam and the last prisoners of war held in North Vietnam arrived on American soil. It is also the date President Nixon chose for the first Vietnam Veterans Day in 1974.

..The American war effort in Vietnam was hit hard by the North Vietnamese Tet Offensive, which ended on this day in 1968. Claims by President Lyndon Johnson that the offensive was a complete failure were misleading. Though the North Vietnamese death toll was 20 times that of its enemies, strongholds previously thought impenetrable had been shaken. From the article: "Congress only has three working days between today and the next shutdown deadline on February 8 — when Senate Democrats hope to reach an agreement on immigration — to cobble together a spending deal to keep the government open.

Congressional Republicans and Democrats will spend the greater part of the next two weeks out of Washington on retreat: the annual meetings that give parties time to strategize their legislative priorities for the year ahead."

So, basically, instead of staying and working to avoid another shutdown, they are going on retreat. Tell us again how they are representing us?

In our platform we state: "Corporations and unions are not individuals; therefore they should not be allowed to contribute to political campaigns. Individuals should be the only contributors to the political process. Contributions will be limited to donating only to candidates for which the individual is able to vote."

An elected representative's concern when voting on a bill should be if his or her constituents want it, not a corporation that stands to make money from the bill's passage.
