Hey Olde Hillcrest! Interested in an opportunity to help others during these trying times? 💗

We are looking to organize groups of 5-6 families to team up and provide a meal for Guest House of Milwaukee. You would cook the meal at your home and we would help coordinate delivery to the Guest House, on a designated date. Ideally 1-2 families provide the main course, 1-2 provide sides, and another a dessert. This can be 100% socially distanced as you can do it all at home!

If you are interested, please comment below or email [email protected]. If you have a group of individuals or families you’d like to work with, that’s great! Otherwise you can volunteer individually and we will connect you with a group.

Thank you for considering!!

Hi everyone, just wanted to give a heads up that we will not be organizing an OHNA neighborhood wide rummage this summer. In the interest of safety, we are avoiding holding events that could draw a crowd. People should feel free to hold their own individual rummage sales as they see fit.

05/24/2020

Happy Memorial Day weekend Olde Hillcrest! 🇺🇸

Just a friendly reminder to make sure you are locking cars and windows at night. As temperatures rise, we typically see an increase in crime around vehicles being rummaged through and property/vehicles being stolen.

Enjoy the weekend & stay safe and healthy, everyone! ✌🏼💙😷

🌟Fun event tomorrow morning! 🌟

There is a car parade tomorrow morning at 10:00am to celebrate the Tosa East “We the People” (APPSE) team who won the state competition and will now be competing for nationals virtually, rather than heading to Washington DC this week 😢. Now Accepting Donations of PPE and Health Care Supplies for Staff, Patients and Visitors 03/25/2020

Hello neighbors! An OHNA resident who is an ER doctor has reached out to ask if people are able/willing to donate masks or other personal protection equipment (PPE) for her and her colleagues. 😷👨🏻‍⚕️🧑🏼‍⚕️

Beth Jaworski has kindly offered to collect any donations and has put a bin on her front porch at 1852 N 71st. 💕💕

She is able to accept any unused or handmade PPE following the instructions linked below.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! ❤️

HOW TO MAKE FACE MASK WITH FILTER POCKET AND ADJUSTABLE WIRE | SEWING TUTORIAL 03/21/2020

Hello neighbors ❤️

We are so fortunate to live in a community where we have state of the art health care facilities and providers in our backyard.

Our healthcare providers now need our help. Many of you have probably seen the info posted about the shortage of PPE (personal protective equipment) for health care workers. It’s devastating.

Here’s how you can help at home-

Either donate unused PPE, or,

If you have a sewing machine and have any sewing skills, consider making some cloth masks for your healthcare friends or local hospital. Here’s a simple one with a pocket where they can insert some sort of filter and then wash the mask later:

**Froedtert is working on developing criteria for sewn masks that they can accept. Please refer here for updated info.**

Updated: You do NOT need to change your address on the 2020 Census. https://www.wauwatosa.net/Home/Components/News/News/1904/17

We had a 2020 Census question today from the Olde Hillcrest Neighborhood. Here’s a tip for those East Tosa neighbors in the 53213 zip code that defaults to “Milwaukee” on your form. The City of Wauwatosa replied:

Yes! Thank you for this question. We've contacted our regional representative for the Census, and here's what they said: When you get to the household address portion of your Census, confirm your address and include Wauwatosa as the city. It will be updated, and you can ensure that your address is counted in Wauwatosa.

Hello neighbors!

You will see this flyer in your front door over the next couple of days (if you haven’t already). Please know that your neighbors are here for you and willing to help however we (safely) can. ❤️

The outpouring of Helpers has been incredibly uplifting! We currently have 30+ neighbors who are ready and willing to help if any needs arise, so please do not hesitate to reach out! ❤️

If you’d like to be added to the Helper list, feel free to email Bryan or Kelly. ❤️

In an effort to help ensure that no family experiences food insecurity during this time, we set up a Little Free Food Pantry at Lincoln Elementary. It is by the main doors on Warren Ave.

It is intended to be shared with the greater community, so if anyone has a need, help yourself. 😊

Since being set up yesterday our generous community has quickly stocked it with food, paper goods, and books. ❤️ If you’d like to donate maybe check back in the coming days & weeks if the supply begins to decline.

Donate if you can, take what you need.
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

OHNA Neighbor to Neighbor Connection 03/16/2020

🌟Please read!! 🌟👇🏼👇🏼

❤️Neighbor to Neighbor Connection ❤️

During these uncertain times, we want to do our best to care for our neighbors, especially our more vulnerable neighbors like the elderly and immunocompromised.

In order to do this, we are collecting a database of neighbors who are willing to be Helpers. Needs may range from grocery/medication pick up, to pet care, to just calling to check in on someone. If a need arises, all of the Helpers will get an email, and hopefully someone will be able/willing to meet the need.

Over the next couple of days, we will be distributing contact info for anyone to use if they have a need. There will be an email address as well as a phone number. We will also distribute a paper flyer to all houses in the neighborhood to ensure that even those who do not use the internet can have access to the Helpers.

If you are willing to be added to the Helper pool, please complete the Google form below. And of course, if you have a need, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here for you. 🙂

Thank you Bryan Ott for putting this together! ❤️

OHNA Neighbor to Neighbor Connection At its core, the mission is to connect neighbors with a need (whether or not they have been affected by COVID-19) to neighbors willing to assist. If you're willing to help please fill out this form and you'll be added to our database of volunteers who are willing to assist a neighbor with a need. Fr...

Hey Olde Hillcrest! Here’s a fun idea! 🤩

☘️Neighborhood wide Shamrock Hunt☘️!

☘️All you have to do is put a Shamrock in your window on March 17th. ☘️ That’s it! Color it, paint it, cut it out, print it from the printer, whatever.

Then we can get outside, walk around and see how many Shamrocks we can find! It would be awesome to post pictures of your finds back here.

It’s easy. No human contact. Get fresh air. Don’t buy toilet paper. Just put a shamrock in your window. ☘️”

Thanks Carrie Jo Cherney for sharing the idea! 💚
