Community of Christ - Milwaukee / Wauwatosa Congregation
Community of Christ is an inclusive faith community that seeks to follow Jesus’s example of love.
We celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary after our worship service today. The congregation has been blessed by the honoree’s presence and discipleship for many years!
We had a delightful prelude for our worship today. Live music is so awesome! We were blessed.
We had a fabulous time hosting Mission Center youth who returned from a trip to church historic sites in Nauvoo, Kirtland and Palmyra. Everyone enjoyed the tacos!
Our worship prelude today included a video loop of member contributed pictures of “spring” and a first time piano performer who is more comfortable playing the trumpet. The pictures were awesome and we were blessed by the young man’s courage. We hope he will share his giftedness with us again!
A delicious Mother’s Day breakfast today. Always good to share table with church friends!
It was a joy filled Easter starting with a breakfast and egg hunt. Lots of kids.
The choir provided today’s ministry of music. It was a meaningful part of our worship experience.
Today’s Christmas Cantata was an awesome experience of worship through music, prayer and fellowship. We were blessed.
Last choir practice today! We’re ready for tomorrow’s Christmas Cantata!
We invite everyone to join us for our Christmas Cantata on December 17 at 10 a.m. CT

Join us tomorrow for our second to last class in our Book of Mormon Study Series at 11am!
Tomorrow we journey into the Book of Mormon's crowning moment, the book of 3rd Nephi - Where Christ visits the Nephites and the Lamanites, teaching a Gospel of fulfilled promises and peace to a people at war.
The Community of Christ Enduring Principles highlighted in this weeks reading is Pursuit of Peace and Worth of All Persons.
Haven't joined us yet? Don't have a Book of Mormon? Aren't sure if you will "fit in"? We are a small group of open and affirming people just doing our best to understand what God is saying to us through this book. We welcome all people, from all backgrounds and life experiences.
You belong! Journey with us.
Hope to see you there.
Hey everyone! Quick reminder about Crafty Connections today! I just opened up the church and am heading downstairs! Hope to see you soon!
In celebration of Pride Month (June), our congregation held a Courage Kit donation drive for Courage MKE, a collaborative movement to provide housing, resources, and services needed for displaced and homeless LGBTQ+ youth in Milwaukee to thrive. Together, we were able to provide a surplus of basic toiletries, snacks, winter items and monetary donations for the Courage Kit program to be distributed to in-need youth throughout the Milwaukee area. We are looking forward to connecting with Courage MKE on other projects throughout the year.
IT’S TIME AGAIN FOR THE BOOK OF MORMON CLASS!
“AWAKE!” And join us Sunday morning (8/27) at 11am for our Book of Mormon class, as we talk together about King Benjamin, and the pathway to a peaceful life focused on the example of Christ.
Readings:
Mosiah Chapters 1 through 4
(Revised Authorized Version, Herald House)
Mosiah Chapters 1 through 6
(LDS Edition)
Worship Service: 10am
The Book of Mormon Class will follow conclusion of Sunday morning services (about 11am).
“Awake, O my soul!”
Today we followed Nephi and his family to the Promised Land, and spoke about the journeys in our own lives, the obstacles we face, and how a strong construction of faith can carry us towards “peace, healing and reconciliation” (D&C 156).
Wonderful conversation grew from authentic connection, where we learned more about eachother and how God is speaking in our individual and communal lives.
A major take away from the Book of Mormon readings today? God’s support is driven by equality of love towards all of us, if we simply listen.
Join us August 27th at 11:30am for our 4th (out of 6) class - we meet King Benjamin, who has something to teach us about the importance of serving eachother in love!
The time for our next Book of Mormon class is just around the corner! Join us this Sunday (August 13th) at 11:30am as we follow Lehi, Nephi and his family across the sea to the Promised Land!
This week we will discuss the "journeys" in our own lives, what tools God gives us to make our journey safely, and the importance of "sacred space."
Readings:
(Revised Authorized Version)
1 Nephi 5:55-264
2 Nephi 4:1-27
(LDS Edition)
1 Nephi 17-19:21
2 Nephi 5:1-18
In-person or online options available. Email [email protected] for the Zoom link or for further questions.
Pursue Peace. It really is that simple. 🕊
It’s hot! But it’s not too hot to decide to attend our Book of Mormon class tomorrow!
This week in the text, we hear about a crazy-detailed dream Lehi had, which caused him to be worried about the future of his family!
We also encounter a strange device, mysteriously appearing outside the tent of Lehi and his family, which works similar to a compass and helps them find their way after getting lost! The caveat? The compass only works in response to prayer and faith!
All this, plus fun conversation, at 11:30am at Community of Christ MKE!
Don’t let this opportunity “come to pass” you by! 😂
Readings covered this week:
1 Nephi 2:41 through 1 Neph 4:64
1 Nephi 5:10 through verse 41
Alma Chapter 17:71 through verse 84
(Revised Authorized Version, Herald House)
Email [email protected] if you wish to join via Zoom. In-person and online participation available.
Today we had a wonderful group come together and begin our exploration of the Book of Mormon.
We spoke of our own personal experiences with the book, we spoke of history, and we discussed how God is moving in our own lives! Hard questions were asked, laughter was abundant, and we all got to know each other a little better.
Truly we are on a ”journey” together with our Summer Scripture Study Series, and it could not have gotten off to a better start!
It’s not too late to join us on our journey! Join us for our next gathering July 30, at 11:30am as we continue with Lehi and his family, and do a little “dream interpretation” for Lehi, and search for the “Liahona” in our own lives!

Last Sunday was a day of joy, commitment, and spirit-filled sacred community!
STARTING THIS SUNDAY AT 11:30AM CST!
What is the Book of Mormon and does it matter at all for my life?
Is it a book simply for those who ascribe to a very specific set of “Mormon” beliefs, or is the message and story of the Book of Mormon more widely applicable to individuals of diverse backgrounds? Including me and you?
For the past 193 years, the Book of Mormon has stood as a catalyst of movement for millions, playing a role in spiritual development and debate from the day it was first published in 1830. Many claims have been made about the book, it is called scripture by multiple Christian denominations, and is rejected, ignored by many more. Today, with academic and historical analysis in hand, the book still stands as an anomaly of human spiritual devotion, holding the focus of individuals from many faith backgrounds.
As a foundational book of scripture in Community of Christ, the Book of Mormon holds a unique (and sometimes overlooked) role as the church grows and changes in new ways.
Does this book have anything to say to you in your life? Starting this Sunday, join Community of Christ - Milwaukee / Wauwatosa Congregation in-person or through Zoom as we bring this book closer into our focus, and as we discover together what role this book has to play in our discipleship with Jesus, the Peaceful One and our quest to build Zion, God’s Shalom.

Pride Month reminds us that God is ALWAYS on the side of the poor, the oppressed, the downtrodden - Look for those whom society rejects, and there you will find God.
“From the earliest days you have been given a sacred principle that declares the inestimable worth of all persons. Do not forget.”
Doctrine and Covenants 162
Starting July 2nd, Community of Christ - Milwaukee / Wauwatosa Congregation will be exploring the Book of Mormon, through the eyes of Community of Christ’s Enduring Principles, contemporary beliefs in “the worth of all persons” and mission for Pursuing Peace, Ending Needless Suffering, and Abolishing Poverty.
The Book of Mormon is an important book scripture in the history and identity of Community of Christ. Its primary message affirms that following the example of Jesus leads to pathways to peace in our lives and communities.
