Who is ready for a lesson in antique furniture? 🙋🏻‍♀️🤩
Bird's eye is a type of figure that can be found in several types of wood, most predominantly maple. It has a very unique pattern that resembles tiny, swirling eyes disrupting the smoothness of the grain. It is unknown what causes this phenomenon in the wood. However, when all furniture was mostly made by hand, only truly skilled artisans had the tools and skills to be able to work and finish this beautiful type of wood successfully.
On another note, have you ever wondered how to tell if a piece of furniture is truly old and handmade? Look for the dovetails! Dovetail joints often hold two boards together in a drawer. It is clear that a piece of furniture was handmade if each dovetail is just a little different.
This antique birdseye maple chest of drawers is absolutely stunning. They simply don't make them like this anymore. True craftsmanship and the natural beauty of this wood make it something incredibly special. She has been at the shop for a while now and is waiting for someone new to take her in and cherish her!

Flow Blue: a style of white earthenware, sometimes porcelain, that originated in the Regency Era, sometime in the 1820's, among the Staffordshire potters of England. The name is derived from the blue glaze that blurred or "flowed" during the firing process.
Flow blue china pieces are truly remarkable works of art and, personally, my very favorite pieces to collect! Whether hung on a wall, displayed in a cabinet, or displayed in creative ways throughout your home, they are sure to bring in some gorgeous color and charm.

Do you ever feel as if a piece of art speaks to your soul? When I look at this oil painting, it radiates such a warmth in my heart. There's something about its patina and the way the light hits it that is remarkable. The image of a husband and wife sharing a meal in their humble home with their dog perched ever so gently beside their table is the essence of gratitude. To me, this piece truly embodies the meaning of Thanksgiving. Simple, warm, light, and joyful. We hope that you all feel that warmth this season! 🕯
