Three children are dead and two more have been flown to an area hospital after being stabbed by their mother Friday afternoon in Italy.

According to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Child Protective Services conducted a home visit in the 300 block of Harris St. Friday afternoon. That visit led to a prompt decision by the CPS investigator to have all five children removed from the home and the custody of Shamaiya Hall, 25.

The investigator called the ECSO 911 dispatch at approximately 4 p.m. The Italy Police Department was immediately notified and had officers on scene at approximately 4:05 p.m.

The first Italy PD officer to enter the home found three deceased children — a 6 year-old male and 5-year-old twins (1 male and 1 female). Two other children, also found inside the home — a 4-year-old male 13-month-old female were seriously wounded.

One injured child was transported to Cooks Children's in Fort Worth, while the other was transported to Children's Hospital Dallas. Both via air ambulance.

Officials confirmed to KBEC that Hall was promptly taken into custody and there is no active threat to the community.

Hall, the mother who is alleged to have stabbed all five of the children, has been charged with three counts of capital murder. Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Dan Cox set at her bond at $2 million on each count. She was booked at 11:02 p.m.

The tragic incident is not isolated, either.

According to court records, Hall was arrested in 2017 for the non-fatal stabbing of her sister’s boyfriend. That aggravated assault charge led to CPS placing her children into the custody of a relative who lived in Italy.

WFAA reports Hall's twin sister, Troyshaye Mone Hall, fatally stabbed her 7-year-old daughter in June 2021. She was court-ordered to the North Texas State Hospital in Vernon, which provides “inpatient psychiatric services to adults, children and adolescents. The hospital also provides psychiatric services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”

Italy ISD Superintednent Rachel L. Kistner stated in a press release issued late Friday night that the district is “deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred off-campus.”

“Words cannot express the overwhelming grief felt by the district and the community hearing of such a tragedy,” Kistner continued. “We are a tight-knit, small community and as such many students will be impacted by this incident.”

Italy ISD will have counselors at Stafford Elementary at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for any community member needing support. There will also be additional counselors on campuses throughout next week, as well as additional counseling services provided at Central Baptist Church’s main campus, beginning at 10:00 am. Monday, March 6.

The investigation led by the ECSO with the Texas Rangers assisting.

The Grand Prairie Police Department is mourning the loss of one of our officers who died in the line of duty. It is with heavy hearts that we report Officer Brandon Paul Tsai passed away after being involved in a traffic collision.

At around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, Officer Tsai was near the intersection of SW 3rd and Pioneer Parkway when he located a vehicle displaying a fictitious paper license plate. Officer Tsai attempted to stop the vehicle which immediately fled. During the pursuit, Officer Tsai lost control of his squad car causing it to strike a light pole.

Officer Tsai was transported by Grand Prairie Fire Department Medics to Methodist Dallas Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Officer Brandon Tsai was 32-years-old and had been with the Grand Prairie Police Department since January 2022. Prior to his hiring at GPPD, he served five years with the Los Angeles Police Department in California.

He was a loving friend, a trusted colleague and an outstanding officer whose passion was providing service to the public.

Earlier this evening, the Everman Police Department received information from a Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office Deputy regarding a credible and potentially imminent threat at the Everman High School Homecoming Football Game.

The information was that an individual was currently on his way to the Homecoming Game with the intent of utilizing a firearm in which he had obtained earlier today. Heavy law enforcement presence already existed at the game; however, additional personnel were quickly dispatched to assist.

A short time later, Everman Police Officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle traveling southbound on Race St towards the Everman High School football stadium. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, which came to a stop at the east gate entrance to the stadium. Officers detained three individuals from inside of the vehicle and recovered an AR Pistol and a 60-round magazine.

It is evident that this individual was coming to do harm. The quick thinking and action by the Tarrant County Deputy who shared the information and the attentiveness and responsiveness of the Officers who made the stop saved countless lives this evening. Their actions prevented any sort of incident at the game. Following this incident, there was no additional threat to those in attendance of the game. All subjects are currently in the custody of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.
