We have been serving up the very best seafood and fried food directly on Wells Beach. We serve everything from pizza to a Lobster platter. We have takeout serving up ice cream and an indoor dining room and patio overlooking Wells Beach. During peak season we're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Our assistant general manager, Scott, has acquired a growing collection of unique knickknacks. Among his treasures are classic black-and-white photographs capturing timeless moments on the beach, delicate matchbooks from the Forbes Dining Room, and vintage postcards with faded views of vintage cars and buildings. Whether stashed in desk drawers or secreted away in hidden nooks, each one brings about a sense of nostalgia and serves as a souvenir to summers’ past.

Friday 9am-10pm
Saturday 7am-10pm
Sunday 7am-4pm
*Closing time is dependent on business
We will be open 7 days a week starting Friday June 14th!

Our Story
A go-to place operated by the Forbes family for the last 99 years, Forbes Restaurant was founded in the early 1920's by Vander and Marguerite Forbes and then run by their son Vander, Jr. and his wife Mary. Their son Joe and daughter Karen Forbes Darling presently oversee the business. Forbes is known for its fresh seafood and its signature product, the "scrambled hamburg." Our beef is fresh ground 3-4 times daily on the premises to ensure a perfect meal every time.
The Forbes family owned and operated Forbes Hotel and the Forbes Family Restaurant on Wells Beach for over 75 years. It was through their hard work, honesty and dedication to their guests that Forbes Wells Beach Resort became well known throughout New England as a premier hotel. A third generation, Karen Forbes Darling and her brother Joe Forbes still own and operate Forbes Family Restaurant on a seasonal basis. They have food that makes the beach fun.
