Today marks the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, a day we will always remember for the heroes who gave everything. As we honor their sacrifice, we also want to thank the Rollover Cafe for stepping up and providing breakfast this morning for Wells Police, Fire, and EMS. Your kindness and support truly embody the spirit of 'Never Forget.'

Big thanks to Rachel for the fantastic meal she made for C-Shift at Wells Fire yesterday! Even though we got interrupted by a few medical calls—just part of the life of a firefighter—we genuinely appreciate the time and effort you put into it. Your dinner kept us going late into the night!

Over the years I’ve worked with and for Bob. When he was in Augusta, I would speak with him looking for support for firefighter specific bills. He would always take my call and ask plenty of questions to gain a full understanding of what and why we needed certain things. As a Town of Wells BOS member, I’ve been told “Bob has been a big supporter of you guys.” Of course since some of our issues were discussed in executive session, I don’t need or know specifics; just knowing he was behind us is all I need to know. Especially during some rough times fire fighters and EMS providers went through in ‘20-‘23. So when Bob announced he would not be seeking reelection for his BOS position, and that he’s making a run to represent/advocate in Augusta, the E-Board agreed it was a no brainer to show him the same support that he’s given us.
As first responders we get told “thank you for your service” frequently enough; but we also need people looking out for us as well.

New England FOOLS Professional Fire Fighters of Maine

Shortly after 1:30 this morning, members working B-Shift responded to a second alarm structure fire on Channel Lane in Sanford. Engine 3 arrived, and the crew worked on fire attack and overhaul for a fire that had spread from an unattached garage to the residence. The Kennebunkport Fire Department provided station coverage.

Today, we mourn the loss of Chief Sherm Lahaie, our former interim chief and a pillar of the fire service community. Chief Lahaie's commitment to firefighter education through the Lahaie Foundation exemplifies his selflessness and passion for serving others. Thank you, Chief Lahaie, for your unwavering dedication and support to our Local and Maine Firefighters. You will always be remembered.

Respect, integrity, dedication and love of the fire service best describe Sherm Lahaie. Last night Chief Lahaie left us, but certainly the dedication of this man to help make everyone better will not be forgotten. He created the Lahaie foundation using his own funds to support firefighter education throughout the state and especially within the Lewiston Fire Department. Sherm was a Lewiston native and a past Chief of the Lewiston Fire Department in the early 80’s. He never lost the love of the LFD and was expected to be in attendance at our annual retirement banquet this week. While we will have an empty chair, we will always remember his stewardship, dedication and friendship. Our thoughts and prayers for his family. Thank you Chief Lahaie, you will not be forgotten!
