COVID-19 UPDATE:
Tele-Mental Health Counseling

Changes are happening daily in our community, state, country, and the world in reaction to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We do not have control over the outcome of this virus, but we do have control over planning for success. My plan is to continue seeing people in-person in my 330 King St office for as long as it makes sense. I am doing my part to disinfect the office using Clorox wipes, in addition to utilizing an ozone machine for two hours every night. Further, I will be offering tele-mental health counseling sessions for those requesting this option.

Individuals who are requesting tele-mental health counseling sessions require the following:
• High-speed internet
• An enclosed room where you will have NO interruptions
• Same growth mindset that you would bring to an in-person session

Who does tele-mental health counseling make the most sense for?
• Individuals who are already immune-comprised
• Elderly
• Known or likely COVID-19 carriers

Who will NOT likely benefit from tele-mental health counseling?
• Youth participating in Play Therapy
• Youth and families participating in Child-Parent Psychotherapy

Over the summer, my colleague and I went to Switzerland to become trained in ASSIP, which is mentioned in the Su***de Prevention Resource Center’s recent weekly newsletter. It has shown an 80% reduction in repeat su***de attempts. We are bringing ASSIP to our Wenatchee, WA clinic in the next couple months, which would make it only 1 of 2 clinics in the US and the only outpatient version in the US. More to come soon!!

It has been 3 years since I have had my own office space...it feels so good! My new address is 330 King St Suite 5 Wenatchee, WA 98801 and the new office number is 509-881-4059.

One exciting happening coming in January or sooner is incorporating an ASSIP (Attempted Su***de Short Intervention Program) clinic into my practice with my partner, Dr. Julie Rickard. Together we are bringing this 3-4 session brief therapy to the West Coast, and we will be only one of two clinics in the US to offer this therapy for repeat su***de. Research has shown that using ASSIP has decreased su***de by 80%, which is greater than any other therapeutic modality in the WORLD! Obviously, we are excited! Updates to come...
