Wishing Dr. Chase a very happy birthday today! May you a wonderful day 🎉
Traditional Chinese Medicine focuses on enhancing the body’s resistance to diseases. Oftentimes, TCM involves the use of natural plants, minerals, or animals as a method of disease treating and health maintenance. In other words, we look to nature to treat.
I found an old painting I did a few years ago. 🌻
TCM is a beautiful thing 🤍

Fun fact: The hype around Gua Sha in the United States actually originated in ancient China and is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is traditionally used as a tool to scrape the muscle fascia superficially to improve blood and lymph circulation to remove toxins of localized heat and reduce muscle tension.
The United States has been using Gua Sha as a beauty regimen for the face which also has its benefits of reducing fine lines, tightening and rejuvenating the skin with use of a face oil. Pro tip: make sure you use a great facial cleanser and apply oil to a clean face. 🫶🏻✨

Summertime is associated with the Heart organ and the element of fire 🔥. It is the hot time of year so a big part of your food intake is keeping your body cool by way of incorporating “cool” foods according to TCM.
Here’s a list of foods that will help cool your body from this Florida heat: Watermelon, seafood, fish, watercress, lettuce, cantaloupe, cucumber, and bok choy.
Think bitter: The taste associated with fire is bitter, so make a point to consume bitter greens like spinach, kale, and Swiss chard.
#1 Acupuncture is painful
- Acupuncture is not painful. When administered by a well trained and qualified practitioner, acupuncture shouldn’t cause any discomfort. Many patients find acupuncture treatment to be very relaxing and will even take a (needle) nap!
#2 Acupuncture is not scientifically proven
- There are countless studies on acupuncture treatments that show the positive effects. Studies have proven that acupuncture stimulates the CNS (central nervous system), releases endorphins, activates the parasympathetic & symmetric nervous systems, and triggers the release of natural opioids that act as analgesics. Penn Medicine did a study of the benefits of acupuncture for easing joint pain among breast cancer patients taking aromatase inhibitors

#3 Acupuncture only works for pain
- Actually acupuncture is used for a wide variety of medical and health conditions, including allergies, digestive gut health, stress, anxiety/depression, pregnancy/infertility, headaches/migraines, menstrual cramps, asthma, sinuses, high blood pressure, low back pain & sciatica, neck pain, insomnia, and more.
#4 Acupuncture is a placebo effect
- Research has shown that acupuncture has reduced pain and improve one’s quality of life with musculoskeletal conditions.
•Restore your body’s stress response
•Regulate the parasympathetic & sympathetic nervous system
•Calm your spirit and Shen
•Clear your mind
•Reduce anxiety and depression
•Restore Qi (energy life force)

When life brings you lemons 🍋make lemonade! Good morning friends, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Today I am making fresh squeezed lemonade.
• 8 lemons, freshly squeezed
• 1 cup of sugar or stevia
• 7 cups of warm water
• Serve with ice, berries, and/or mint
🍋lemons in TCM will help clear heat, phlegm, or toxins in the body. They help with circulation of qi and blood.
🍃mint cools the body, helps with liver qi stagnation, clears the head and eyes, expels heat and refreshes the mind. Both mint and lemons are perfect for our hot summer Florida days.
The grilled avocado dish at Anchor & Brine is incredible!!
Happy 4th of July!! I hope everyone has a safe and fun day and weekend ❤️🤍💙
What is an acupuncture point?
A specific point located on the body where an acupuncture needle is inserted that falls on a meridian or channel pathway.
A meridian are channels that form connections throughout the body. This is where the energy flows freely. The meridians are associated with internal organs, emotional states, vital energy source, and elements.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient medicine that consists of a complete medical system. TCM has been around for over 3,000 years and hasn’t changed much over time.
Chinese medicine is based on imbalance to the body’s Qi (the vital force of energy) causes illnesses. The concept of Yin & Yang is to help explain, diagnose, and treat disease. The two must be in harmony for the body’s energy to be balanced.
In regaining balance, what is taken in account are seasons, elements, and your personal constitution. This can be done through specific acupuncture points that fall on the body’s energetic meridians or channels.
There are an array of treatment modalities to use such as, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, electrical acupuncture, gua sha, Tui Na (Chinese medical massage), and moxibustion. Regardless of the modality the goal will remain the same: to bring the body’s energy back into balance and free flowing in harmony and blood circulation.
