Thank you to EVERYONE who attended our annual Leaders in Giving event on Monday night at the Museum of Wisconsin Art. It meant so much to gather and celebrate with you. Of course, we could not support any of the community's nonprofits without the support of YOU.
In addition, we are so appreciative of MOWA for hosting us, to Jeff and Sarah Szukalski of Jeff's Spirits On Main for providing the drinks as an in-kind donation, and to Tony Koebel, owner and executive chef of The Norbert and The Orville for providing the absolutely amazing food!
Thank you, all!
During our annual Leaders in Giving event on Monday at the Museum of Wisconsin Art, United Way of Washington County also presented its first-ever Kevin Steiner Emerging Leader Award.
The Emerging Leader Award was created to recognize an individual who has demonstrated leadership and made a profound impact on growing the United Way of Washington County Emerging Leaders program.
United Way’s Emerging Leaders is a team of professionals who actively invest their time, talent and resources to improve our community. Their mission is to ignite and inspire one another by providing opportunities to lead, serve and grow.
The award is named in honor of Kevin Steiner, the founder of the Emerging Leaders group, which started in 2017 when he saw a need to grow the next generation of leaders in our community.
Sandie Giernoth, one of the founding members and co-chairs of the Emerging Leaders program, was honored with the inaugural award.
Sandie’s drive and passion helped develop, shape and successfully launch the Emerging Leaders program. She rolled up her sleeves and helped to lay a solid foundation for the program to grow. Sandie also serves as inspiration as her volunteer leadership roles have evolved and continue to deepen. She now serves as the United Way's board president.
Sandie's dedication to the community is second to none and United Way is beyond lucky to have her making such an impact.
THANK YOU, Sandie!
Last night, United Way of Washington County held its Leaders in Giving event at the Museum of Wisconsin Art. At this annual event, United Way presents the Nelson Volunteer Leadership Award to an individual in Washington County who has demonstrated community leadership and a long-term commitment to volunteering.
The award is named in honor of the late Clifford A. & Elizabeth M. Nelson, who are known for their outstanding volunteer efforts on behalf of human service, civic, and arts organizations.
We were thrilled to present this year's award to Claire Rolfs.
Claire has contributed to and volunteered for a number of local nonprofits, including:
❤️Current Chair of the West Bend Community Foundation
❤️Board member of MOWA
❤️Chair of the Threshold Foundation
❤️Board member of the Albrecht Free Clinic and instrumental in its affiliation with Lakeshore Community Health care
❤️Board member of Family Promise
❤️A proponent for the beautification of Downtown West Bend
❤️Key player in protecting the Washington County Golf Course in perpetuity
❤️Chair of Rolfs Education Foundation
Claire and her family foundation also have contributed generously to many of the above organizations and many more projects in West Bend.
She has has made a profound impact with her time and support and we are honored to recognize Claire’s legacy for her commitment to our local community.
THANK YOU, Claire!

The Wisconsin Office of Children's Mental Health (OCMH) has introduced the Early Childhood Feelings Thermometer, a visual aid designed to help young children, ages 0 to 5, manage and identify their emotions.
Research shows the act of identifying and naming feelings can reduce the intensity of those emotions.
This tool aims to assist child care providers, educators, and families in supporting emotional regulation through calming strategies and activities.
The tools are available in English, Spanish and Hmong. Learn more here:
