Iโve run ๐โโ๏ธ many 5kโs, 5 1/2 marathons, 2 ultra marathons. Iโve run road, trails and 1 mountain race.

I talk to clients pretty much daily on the importance of doing stabilization exercises for your hips and shoulders.
Most of my clients are in pain because of unstable joints. This balance board I just added to my routine is advanced leg stability training. The goal is to keep the board as steady as possible while moving.

Little walk down memory lane. In a former life I was super involved in horse showing. Growing up we always had horses at our house. Usually had 2, but sometimes we had 4. I also spent my teen years into my mid 20โs working at larger stables.

This is why you practice doing a deadlift. So you can get out of a chair and your car easily. Use the gym to help you improve activities of daily living.
I went into Ghost Train Rail Trail Races wanting to push myself and go for 45 miles. Well it didnโt work out that way. I did the 30 miles which is still no joke.
During my 2 week taper was when I noticed the heel issue ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ stiff heel after sleeping not a good sign. Means the tendon attachment is damaged and inflamed. Can turn into full blown plantar fasciitis with heel spurs. I went into the race knowing I may not even get 30 miles.
I felt good the first 1.5 loops. Did intervals of 10 minute run 10 minute walk. When I went through the technical section again thatโs when the heel tightness started and I knew pushing for the 45 miles wasnโt going to be a good idea.
Overall Iโm pleased with how I trained which each of these types of races I learn more on what to work on. I still need to get better about the eating part in these types of distances. And I still have overall fitness that I can get better at.
Right now I donโt feel too bad. Just limping from my swollen right heel. Iโll give myself 2 weeks off from running.

How I stayed pain free during ultramarathon training
Officially done โ๏ธ ultramarathon training โบ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ I peaked at 60 miles for the week. I did 18.4, 11.5 and 10 mile double digit runs this week. In 2 weeks itโs show time ๐บ๐ช Stay tuned for how my training plan I came up with worked to train me for 45 miles.
Some of my veggies ๐ฅ that grew while I was away. Still need to pick tomatoes, zucchini and summer squash.
