Congratulations Janis and Marley
CVC hosted our First Annual Show the Love Event last week and what a night! We heard from our Leadership Team, recognized our team for their length of service and presented our annual Advocacy Awards. First up, The John Crane Child Victim Advocacy Award was presented to Lieutenant Janis Pickell and Marley of the Chester County Sheriff's Office of PA! She said of receiving the award, “I am honored to work in collaboration with the amazing team of people from the Crime Victims Center. The opportunity to partner with other agencies in an effort to seek justice and protection for victims makes it all worth it!” And Marley was also honored to be recognized and said, “ It’s a woof job, but the smiles that I see makes me wag my tail with joy!” Thank you Lt. Pickell and Marley for all you do for child victims in Chester County!

Congratulations to Lieutenant Janis Pickell!
We are thrilled to announce the well-deserved promotion of Sergeant Janis Pickell to the rank of Lieutenant within the Chester County Sheriff's Office. Join us in congratulating Lt. Pickell on her outstanding achievement. We have full confidence in her ability to fulfill the mission and provide top-notch leadership for the Chester County Sheriff’s Office.
Lt. Pickell started her career with the Chester County Sheriff's Office in 2003. During her 20 years of service, she earned her master’s degree from West Chester University and received the Trilogy award from FBI-LEEDA.
Her contributions to the Command and Leadership Academy as both a graduate and instructor showcase her dedication to excellence. Lt. Pickell played a pivotal role in training and overseeing more than 100 deputies in Chester County, as well as instructing for PCCD, Temple, and ITT Technical Institute.
In 2021, Lt. Pickell achieved the U.S.P.C.A. Police K-9 Therapy Certificate alongside her K-9 partner Marley, making them the first in the nation to receive this prestigious certification. This accomplishment highlights Lt. Pickell's commitment to community service, as they have since helped numerous children and victims at the Justice Center.
Before her promotion to Lieutenant, Janis Pickell held the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant in the training unit.
On weekends, Lt. Pickell enjoys spending quality time with her family in both PA and FL. She extends heartfelt thanks to her parents and loved ones for their support throughout her remarkable journey.
