I had known about my sleep issues for some time, but it wasn’t until I had a sleep test performed that I realized I was not getting a good night’s rest, waking up on average several dozen times per hour! Not good.

The doctor who performed the sleep study naturally recommended a CPAP machine, but I wasn’t ready for such a constricting, radical device, not to mention the potential health and safety aspects of it. I had heard about dental appliances being made that might allow me to breathe easier and sleep more soundly without all of the baggage associated with a CPAP. After doing some searching online for dentists in the Chester County area, Dr. Briglia seemed to fit the bill. I scheduled my appointment and was very impressed with his knowledge of the product, especially the fact that he uses one himself. Measurements were taken, and the appliance ordered.

Fast forward a few weeks, and my fitting was scheduled. Dr. Briglia did a thorough job going over it with me, how to use and adjust it, etc. First night was a learning process. Took a bit of time to get used to it, but I noticed right away how much better I felt the next morning. After several days, not only had the appliance become a part of my sleeping routine, but I was remembering dreams much more vividly. It also helped that my snoring was far less pronounced and disruptive to my wife. Happy Wife = Happy Life folks….

Interesting side note is just last week, I had a pretty sore throat, so I slept without the appliance for several nights so I could use throat lozenges and sprays. In the morning, I noticed right away how less soundly I had slept the night before. Couldn’t wait for the throat problems to clear up so I could go back to using the appliance. In fact, I even ordered a spare one for travel and backup purposes. I don’t ever want to be without one again!
