# # # East Side LL 10U All Stars Split Opening Games, Survive to Knockout Round # # #
The East Side LL 10Us were defeated by Newtown by a score of 8-5 on Monday. The game saw East Side make a strong comeback in the second inning, scoring four runs. Cole Warner led the team with two RBIs, contributing to the overall six hits collected by East Side. Despite their efforts, the 10Us ultimately couldn't overcome the lead, leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth as Cole Warner was robbed of a bases-clearing triple by the opposing center fielder.
On Tuesday, the 10Us secured a 2-1 victory against Meadville in walk-off fashion, thanks to strong pitching performances.
James Martin was outstanding in relief, pitching five and two-thirds innings, allowing only one hit and one unearned run, while striking out five. James’ Herculean effort gave the team the opportunity to win in the bottom of the 7th. C**t “Spark Plug” DiGrazio singled with two outs to get the rally started. The speedy Cole Warner replaced DiGrazio at first base. He then proceeded to steal second base and, with aggressive and excellent base running, was able to advance to third and score the winning run by placing pressure on the fielders, resulting in multiple errors.
Ryan Hennessey contributed by hitting into a fielder's choice that tied the game in the fourth inning. Darren Molineux led the team in hits, going 2-for-2 at the plate.
The 10Us will continue their climb up the championship mountain on Wednesday at 1 pm.
