We are so thankful for our partners at the GardenWorks Project!

We’re growing! The budding gardeners at Educare West DuPage, an early childhood school in West Chicago, are joyfully caring for their vegetable plants and seeds. It’s our pleasure to provide these young learners with experiences that teach them about food growing and the importance of gardening in environmental stewardship.

This season, we’ve enlarged the garden area with 4 grow bags and 5 “pizza garden” boxes ensuring room for growth. We’re looking forward to this year’s adventure of exploring the wonders of gardening with these young gardeners!

Today is the first "International Day of Play", which raises awareness of the importance of play in children's lives. At Educare, we know that children learn best when they are engaged and interested and we help to foster a love for learning through play.

We are so grateful for our partnership with the GardenWorks Project This partnership allows our children to learn about the process of planting, growing, and caring for plants. They will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with gardening, learn about the different types of plants, and understand the importance of taking care of the environment. Gardenworks brought plants and seeds today and will be coming every other week to provide guidance, answer questions, and help our students develop their gardening skills. We are excited to see how this partnership with Gardenworks will inspire our children to explore the world of gardening and develop a deeper connection to nature. Thank you to our friends from the West Chicago Park District for the recent donation of phones for our classroom's dramatic play areas! We are loving having "real" phones for our students to use in their imaginative play. We value all of our community partners as we work together to enrich the lives of our families in our community. 🪻🌷🌸🌻

We were thrilled to host visitors from Taufkirchen, Germany, which is West Chicago's Sister city yesterday. It was a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from each other's educational practices and showcase how Educare values the importance of quality early childhood experiences in the first five years of life. The group got to tour our school and engage with staff and children. We are so proud to highlight our school in these global learning opportunities! 🌎

Yesterday, our leadership team had the pleasure of meeting with the Center for Early Learning Funding Equity team and it was inspiring to hear about their dedication to ensuring equitable funding for early learning programs. We look forward to our continued work together to create positive change in the early childhood education field.

Educare West DuPage staff and Parent Policy Council President had a wonderful experience visiting Educare Winnebago on the Winnebago Indian Reservation in northeast Nebraska. Nearby in Sioux City, we attended the Educare Learning Network Meeting. We are so proud to be a part of a Network of schools from across the country that values the importance of a quality early childhood experience for children and families!

Last week, one of our Board members, David J. Sabathne' provided written testimony on the importance of early childhood investments. We are so appreciative of David and all of our early childhood champions who advocate and bring awareness to the importance of the first five years of children's lives.

As the Illinois legislature weighs budget priorities for FY25, ReadyNation member David Sabathne of the Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce provided written testimony on key early childhood investments like child care, Early Intervention, home visiting, and better supporting the birth-to-5 workforce.

Happy National Gardening Day! At Educare West DuPage, we love to garden and have established supportive relationships with GardenWorks Project, Healthy West Chicago and who work with us to build the love for gardening at a young age for our students. We encourage our little gardeners and their families to pick up a shovel, plant some seeds and appreciate the wonder and benefits of gardening. 🪴🪻🌷🌻🌞🌸🌎🥕🍎

Today we celebrate World Health Day! We all have a role to play in our personal health and the well-bring of those around us. As a Head Start program, we help our students and their families prepare to succeed in school and in life by promoting children's development through early learning, health and family well-being.
