Next Friday is our annual event benefiting Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Last year we had nearly 50 generous businesses and organizations take advantage of this great offer. This year we are hoping to hit 60. Please consider having our Chief or Deputy Chief swing by and drop off your fresh coffee and donuts to share with your staff while supporting this worthwhile cause.
And remember...your West Chicago Police Officers will be manning all four local Dunkin' locations so feel free to stop by an pick up your morning cup and make that donation in person. 2022 LETR shirts will be on hand and for every $5 donation you will receive a special Dunkin' travel mug while supplies last. Any donation will get you a free Dunkin' donut! Hope to see you out there!

In just ONE WEEK trucks galore will be filling up Reed-Keppler Park waiting for kids of all ages to touch them and climb in/on them! That's right, one week from today is this year's Touch a Truck event!
If you are coming out to this year's event, you may park by ZONE250, in the Turtle Splash parking lot, the small lot by Yale Street or even along the north side of the park but we must ask that you do NOT park in the ARC Center lot.
It's sure to be a great morning, we can't wait to see you!
Yesterday, Ken Wegner and Charles Wegner IV stopped by the police station to visit with Chief Fleury. But it wasn't just any regular visit.
On behalf of The Jel Sert Company, Ken and Charles presented Chief Fleury with a check to be used on our (drum roll please) new K9!! That's right West Chicago, your police department is getting a dog! Make sure you keep checking back here for details on what kind, what we name the pup and who our new K9 handler is.
To Ken, Charles and everyone at Jel Sert we thank you for this generous donation and all the support you have given us over the years.
It's that time of year again...time for the Polar Plunge benefitting Special Olympics Illinois. But this year will be unlike any other year. Your favorite officers are not jumping into an icy lake, they are not being dunked into a pool of cold water, so what are they doing? Well you'll have to come out to Hawthorne's Backyard on March 12th to see!
If you cannot make the event but you'd like to still support this amazing cause, you can donate by clicking here: https://bit.ly/3IlfLvy
This morning we came together as one big police family for a holiday feast. Our officers, gathered with spouses and kids, dined on eggs, potatoes, sausage and bacon as the big man in red made a special trip to West Chicago.
Special thank you to everyone who made this day happen, including Santa and his special helpers, Chief and Mrs. Fleury!
Happy holidays West Chicago!
Stop by The Bunker Bar & Grill or Hawthorne's Backyard the entire month of December and enjoy their great food specials and wonderful staff. While there feel free to tack on a little extra to your bill to support Special Olympics Illinois. Every penny raised helps support the programs offered by Special Olympics Illinois to over 23,000 athletes state wide.
We here at the West Chicago Police Department love to help Special Olympics Illinois and we have an easy way for you to help as well.
Next time you stop in at either Hawthorne's Backyard or The Bunker Bar & Grill, you can add an extra buck or two to your bill. That money goes directly to Special Olympics and helps support thousands of athletes. This fundraising opportunity will last ALL MONTH LONG so stop on by, have a nice meal and support a great organization.
Congrats on your 26 years of dedicated service to the community of West Chicago and the West Chicago Police Department. Ofc. Mike Smurawski served as a member of the FOP Board for many years and always represented this Department in a professional manner. Good luck in your future endeavors.
Today we bid a fond farewell to Officer Michael Smurawski.
Some of you may know him from his many years working the road as a patrol officer or from his time as a school resource officer. However you know him, you know he was a fine officer who gave his all to this community for over 26 years.
Although we will miss seeing Officer Smurawski around, we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
This week our West Chicago FOP Lodge 85 made a monetary donation to our local Neighborhood Food Pantry. This money will help them feed families in need this holiday season.
If you'd like to help, check out their website for ways you can get involved and/or donate. https://www.neighborhoodfp.org/
Great things happen when our community comes together as one!
Stop out and enjoy the game!
