Pregnancy - Chiropractic Digital Brochures 17/09/2024

Chiropractic care during pregnancy can be beneficial for many women. It focuses on maintaining the health of the spinal column, discs, and related nerves without drugs or surgery. Here are some key points:

1. **Alignment and Balance**: As the body changes during pregnancy, the spine and pelvis can become misaligned. Chiropractic adjustments can help maintain proper alignment, which can alleviate discomfort and promote a smoother pregnancy and delivery.

2. **Pain Relief**: Many pregnant women experience back pain, hip pain, and joint discomfort due to the extra weight and changes in posture. Chiropractic care can help reduce this pain by ensuring that the spine and joints are properly aligned.

3. **Improved Function**: Proper spinal alignment can improve the functioning of the nervous system, which can benefit both the mother and the developing baby. This can lead to better overall health and well-being during pregnancy.

4. **Easier Labor and Delivery**: Some studies suggest that chiropractic care can help reduce the time of labor and delivery by ensuring that the pelvis is properly aligned, which can facilitate the baby's passage through the birth canal.

It's important for pregnant women to seek care from a chiropractor who is experienced in working with pregnant patients and uses techniques that are safe for both the mother and the baby.

Why chiropractic? What made Dr. Alex choose this profession?

When she was a young girl, Dr. Alex was diagnosed with chronic migraines. She had migraines multiple days a week, and often times, when she didn’t have a migraine, she had a tension headache.

Traditional medicine couldn’t find anything to be the cause of the headaches. After countless doctor visits, scans, and medications, she was frustrated, and she was still dealing with frequent headaches.

Her mother had gone to the chiropractor for many years, so they decided to give that a try. Her chiropractor found the ROOT of the problem, and her life was changed under chiropractic care. She was able to be a teen again headache free and minimal discomfort.

She knew from then on this was something that interested her. She wanted to be able to help people through a non invasive option. She wanted to give people hope again when there aren’t any other answers.

Chiropractic care is the “last resort” a lot of times, but it is usually the biggest chance for hope and change.

Give our office a call for answers 🙌

▪️ Heart Rate Variability (HRV) ▪️

Heart Rate Variability is considered one of the best measures of the nervous system health as it measures our body's ability to adapt to stress 🤔
Chronic stressors (thoughts, traumas and toxins) in our environment create a shift in nervous system function, draining our reserve and ability to adapt which can make us more susceptible to symptoms and sickness.🫠
The graphs above show Autonomic Nervous System activity and the balance between the sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) branches. This is the left (sympathetic) side versus the right (parasympathetic) side.
It also shows us autonomic activity or our “energy” from top to bottom. We like to think of that like a battery or a gas tank. We don’t let our phones run on 10% battery, and we don’t typically let our cars run on 25% of a gas tank. We shouldn’t let our bodies do that either!
Well-adjusted patients are typically in the Green Zone with balance, and they have a greater adaptability energy. That is what we want to see! Where do you think you would fall? In fight or flight mode or growth and healing? 🌱

▪️ Rolling Thermal ▪️

Temperature regulation of our skin can be used to "map out" where a subluxation is occurring. 🗺️

Problems in balancing temperature (blood flow) evenly along the spine reveals areas of nervous system stress. Changes in temperature can indicate acute and chronic problems.

The thermal balance graphs above show which spinal nerve levels are reaching outside the normal range in their ability to regulate blood vessels. The different colors mean different levels of severity. Green is mild, blue is moderate, and red is severe/extreme. 😲

The goal is to have equal temperature regulation throughout the spine. Equal regulation means less nervous system stress which means better function! 🤗

Our job is to locate and remove subluxations from the spine and nervous system! 👍

06/04/2023

▪️sEMG or Surface Elecromyography▪️

This measures postural and neuro-muscular efficiency / exhaustion👍👎

When our nervous system is compromised by stress in the environment, our body's natural response is to protect; our muscles fire and contract, and joints lose mobility. Our posture becomes flexed, tilted, and/or rigid, causing our spinal system to be pulled out of balance.

Spinal nerve and muscle stress caused by a subluxation can lead to excessive energy expenditure. 😪

This pattern graphs above show us how much energy is spent from your muscles while at rest. It also tells us how symmetrical your muscles are firing, if they are following the correct pattern, and how much energy they are expending.

29/03/2023

The next few weeks we are going to be going over our scanning technology! This gives us in in-depth view into how your nervous system is FUNCTIONING.

There are 3️⃣ components to our InSIGHT scans.
- Rolling Thermal
- Surface EMG
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

Be on the lookout for what these do and why we use this in the office 😎

Where did the name Healthy Roots Chiropractic come from? 🌳🤔

When Dr. Kyle and Dr. Alex we’re deciding on a name for the clinic, it took a lot of thought. They knew they wanted something more than just “Family chiropractic “ or anything along that line.

The nervous system is the root of your body. It is the decision maker, the thing that makes your body function and work. The goal is to have everyone’s nervous system as healthy as possible that way everyone can function and be as healthy as possible.

Plants need healthy roots to live, correct? Humans need healthy nervous systems to live as well! 🧠

A few different names got tossed out and thrown around, but ultimately Healthy Roots Chiropractic stuck. 🙌

✨ The Gonstead Difference ✨

5th and final component: X-ray Analysis

“To see is to know, To not see is to guess” Have you ever heard that quote? We find x-rays to be VERY valuable in our office for this reason. We take full spine x-rays in our office (if warranted). 🩻

We are not the type of office that takes x-rays then never looks at them again. After your initial visit, your x-rays will be stitched together to look like a full spine, and they will get all marked up like the picture above.

We open our patients x-rays every visit. We look to see how your spine looks bio mechanically. Are there any lateral curves? How are joints? How do the cervical, thoracic and lumbar curves look? These are all things that may alter how you get adjusted, and they are important for us to know!

After we have done the initial four steps listed, we compile all that information and compare it to the x-ray findings. This is how we decide when and where we are going to adjust. It may seem like a lot going on at once, but it is a fairly simple and efficient process.

This process also allows us to be VERY specific with how and when we adjust. People often tell us that what we do is different or they’ve never gotten as good of results under care as they have with our office. Practicing the Gonstead Technique allows us to be specific and very intentional which allows your body to heal. 👐🏼

21/02/2023

✨ The Gonstead Difference ✨

4th Component: Motion Palpation

Motion palpation is done after the first three steps.

After we scope, we know where to focus within the spine. Then after static palpation, we know if there is any swelling, tight muscles, etc. 😵‍💫

Then we go into the joint and move you around to see where it is restricted at. 🙅🏽

If you have been in our office, this is when we are moving you around and poking different areas of your back. 👐🏼

We feel for where there is restricted movement. When there is restricted movement (along with everything else mentioned), that tells us where and how we need to adjust.

After motion palpation, there is only one step left!

14/02/2023

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone who celebrates! We just wanted to say that we LOVE all of you. 💗
We love our patients, our community, and our business.

Don’t forget to love your body and health!

We are so thankful for all of you! We hope everyone has a wonderful day. 💜

13/02/2023

✨The Gonstead Difference ✨

3rd Component: Static Palpation

Static Palpation is when we simply feel your back. 👐🏼

We are feeling for edema/swelling, tightness of muscles, temperature etc. 💪🏻

The biggest component with this is feeling for the swelling and to see how the muscles are doing. There may be extra swelling in/around the joint.

This may change how you get adjusted (i.e. what table is going to be better suited for you).

As far as the muscles go, it is important for us to evaluate the muscles to see if there is asymmetry, tension , and over/under activity .

This is the start of the hands on evaluation part of the adjustment!

06/02/2023

✨The Gonstead Difference ✨

2nd Component: Instrumentation

There are two types of instruments in our office: The Nervoscope (the white one in the picture) and the Delta-T (the black one in the picture).

These are dual probe heat differential instruments. They pick up heat differences between the sides of the spine. 🔥

It makes sense that they would be the same temperature, right? Well when there is a subluxation/misalignment, it alters the temperature, and the instrument picks up on it.

This allows us to be as specific as possible. It also allows us to know when NOT to adjust you. 👏🏻

Our goal is to get you better as quickly as possible and keep you better. Our instruments allow us to be specific to ensure we are adjusting the correct area at the correct time. It also allows us to quantify what is going on and ensure we are making change! 👍

We scope at every single visit. Often times we will scope after we adjust you, as well, to make sure that inflammation is decreasing!

02/02/2023

✨ The Gonstead difference ✨

1st Component: Visualization

This one may seem like a no brainer, BUT we like to actually SEE what is going on.
We visualize your gait, posture, tension, and overall being every visit. There are so many things that we can see by a simple scan with our eyes. 👀

We get to know our patients, and oftentimes we can tell when something is off by the way you walk or carry yourself. 🚶‍♂️
We wouldn’t be able to tell quite as well if we didn’t visualize every visit.

This is also a big reason why we have our patients gown during their visits. There have been many instances where we see a lesion/spot on their back that needs to get evaluated.

It also allows us to see how the skin looks. Is there any dry skin , swelling, or red marks?
This also applies for little kids. How are they sitting in the car seat? What way do they tend to hold their head? How are their mechanics when they play with the toys at the office?
Is one shoulder higher than the other? How is the anterior head carriage?

While visualization may be a relatively quick step in the process, it is very important! 👓

23/01/2023

At Healthy Roots Chiropractic, we practice the Gonstead technique.

Most of the time when we tell people that, they have no idea what it means. Over the next few weeks, we are going to go into the 5 different components of the Gonstead system. They are visualization, instrumentation, static palpation, motion palpation, and X-ray analysis.

Keep an eye on our page to learn more about these different parts to the system and why we chose it!
