Reminder! Our Kick-Off JTConnect Open House is tomorrow - Thursday, September 5th at The Emanuel Synagogue! Open to 8th-12th graders and families. There will be a foam party, ice cream sundaes, corn hole and more. We will also be having a teen candle lighting to remember the 6 hostages that were murdered by Hamas and praying for the safe return of all others still in captivity.

Our hearts are broken alongside the Jewish community as we learn of the tragic murder of six innocent hostages in captivity in Gaza including Hersh Goldberg-Polin, a young Israeli-American man. May their precious memories be a blessing, and may their families find comfort and strength during this devastating time. This violence must end. We stand united in our call for the safe return of all those still held hostage by Hamas.

We are devastated by the news that 6 of the hostages kidnapped on 10/7 were murdered in Hamas captivity. Their bodies were rescued by Israeli forces and brought home to their families. We send our deepest condolences to the families of:

JTConnect is holding an open house East of the River on Monday, August 26th from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm for 8th-12th graders! JTConnect will be offering an exciting new program East of the River 2 times a month on Sundays from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Join West Hartford for Israel for their weekly march for the hostages and Israel this Sunday at 9:30 am in Bishop's Corner! Meet at the Bishops Corner library for flag and sign distribution before they start the program and march at the corner of Albany and Starkel.
Come help send the message that we want the hostages brought home and that we haven't forgotten about them.
There will be security for the march.
State Senator Derek Slap will be joining for the march this Sunday. Come out and march! Wear a red shirt!

We finished the week with an outing to Winding Trails! We hung out, went swimming, and boating! It was a great way to cool off on a hot day!

Our teens volunteered with Dignity Grows helping to pack totes that are filled with a full-month supply of hygiene products and period necessities.

Yesterday afternoon our teens learned the Israeli martial art of Krav Maga and how to defend themselves with Coach Isaiah at Plus One Defense Systems!

Today we had the opportunity to tour the Connecticut State Capitol and had a meeting with State Senator Derek Slap. Our Advocacy program this morning prepared our wonderful students for this special opportunity to meet with the Senator. Today was such an amazing experience!

Our day started off this morning with a special program - The Power of Advocacy and Civic Action with AJC - American Jewish Committee Regional Director Myra Clark-Siegel & JTConnect educator Robert Fishman!

We had a great afternoon kayaking and canoeing down the Farmington River today!

Our project this morning was assembling dry soup ingredient mason jars for Healing Meals Community Project. Healing Meals Community Project provides nutritous meals to families experiencing the illness of a loved one or family member. What a special and meaningful experience for our students. We are off to Canoe and Kayak for the afternoon! Stay tuned for more updates!
