The group show is going strong.
Another pop up completed.
I just finished streaming Wonka that was originally released in December of 2023. I liked the story which was indeed full of imagination. Sure made my eyes pop out their socke-lets a few times. I really enjoyed the whole thing, especially when I noticed a few locations in the film that were in Oxford, England, which I had just visited to put up an exhibit of paintings. The message I took away from the film is that it’s not the chocolate but the people you share it with.
So here’s some chocolate for you to enjoy. Not only was Radcliffe Camera (a University of Oxford library) one of my favorite locations spotted in the movie, I also recognised the skyway connecting two buildings of Hertford College, Bridge of Sighs. Another fun tidbit about the movie that was cool to me, Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) was in the movie and he just happened to be one of the animated subjects I chose for the show.
As you know, I love to travel and discover new places and people. Back in September of 2022 I found this shop called Art Cafe smack dab in the middle of Oxford that featured different artists work on a rotating basis. So of course once I got back from my trip I sent an email inquiring about a show.
After a few emails back and forth, with Giovanna, the owner, I secured a spot for several months in May of 2023. That show has come and gone, however, it was my first exhibit in England and I’m happy about that.
I’ve had several shows in different countries abroad. So far, my art has been shown in Vevey, Switzerland, Nesjavillir, Iceland, Berlin, Germany and now Oxford in the UK. Not to mention the dozens of shows throughout the U.S.
Back to Wonka the movie. W***y had a dream to open a chocolate shop since being a little boy and continued until he succeeded bringing magic and smiles to people along the way. I kind of fancy myself a Wonka/Warhol dreamer myself.
Little Godshots I feel throughout life that say you’re doing good, keep going, I can’t ignore. Whether it’s a scene in a movie that reminds me of an art show I had in Oxford, the world famous Ion Adventure hotel in the middle of ReykjavĂk that hosted me as an artist that keeps popping up randomly online on travel sights or simply remembering the wonderful encounters I’ve had traveling with my art and sharing it with the world, I’m simply blessed and grateful, of this dreamers journey so far.
I am constantly putting new paintings here that have been commissioned and others that are for sale. Without your patronage, I wouldn’t be able to continue as I do, so thank you. If you are in an area where I announce an art opening, come see me and my creations in person. That’s wonderful when that happens. If you see a piece of art that interests you, let me know, I’m posting for you.
Here’s a few pictures of me in Oxford to go with the story.
