“Sylvia Robinson (née Vanderpool) September 29, 2011) was an American singer, record producer, and record label executive. Robinson achieved success as a performer on two R&B chart toppers: as half of Mickey & Sylvia with the 1957 single “Love Is Strange”, and her solo record “Pillow Talk” in 1973. She later became known for her work as founder and CEO of the hip hop label Sugar Hill Records.”

“Lady Pink was born in Ecuador, raised in NYC and currently resides in the countryside north of the city. In 1979 she started writing graffiti and soon was well known as the only female capable of competing with the boys in the graffiti subculture. Pink painted subway trains from the years 1979-1985. In 1982 she had a starring role in the motion picture “Wild Style”. That role and her other significant contributions to graffiti have made her a cult figure in the hip-hop subculture...”

“The talented 1st Lady of Hip-Hop Cindy Campbell is the catalyst for the humble beginnings of Hip-Hop. Cindy had the vision to organize a back to school party.  Little did she know that her Back to School Party was to become known as The Beginning of Hip-Hop.  This establishes her as the first Hip-Hop Promoter.
 
It was her Back to School Party, which she promoted on August 11th, 1973 that her famous brother The Legendary Founder of Hip-Hop DJ Kool Herc, DJ’d in the recreation room at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the West Bronx.  As a Graffiti writer, her tag name was PEP-1 (174.)  She was also a B-Girl.  Cindy has worked along-side her brother’s involvements throughout the years.  In 1984 she negotiated his Hollywood debut role where, DJ Kool Herc portrayed himself in the movie “Beat Street” produced by Harry Belafonte, David Picker and Directed by Stan Lathan..”

“Pioneering African American Rap Artist, MC Sha-Rock is relevant to the Hip Hop culture, music and industry. Established in 1976, she began her career as a b-girl/break dancer in the Bronx, New York.

In the Hip Hop community, she is known as the “Luminary Icon” or the “Mother of the Mic”…..the foundation for female emcee’s. She is a former member of the legendary rap group, The Funky 4 Plus One More. They were known as the ‘Gladys Knight and The Pips’ of Hip Hop. In 1979 they became the first Hip Hop group to have a legitimate record deal, releasing their first single called “Rappin and Rocking the House”, recorded at 16 minutes. In 1981, they appeared on Saturday Night Live and became the first rap group to ever appear on national television.

In the 1970’s, the ground-breaking era of the Hip Hop culture, MC Sha-Rock is credited with being the First Female Emcee, to go full circle in a MC rhyming battle with such groups, as Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5.”
