Sometimes you get inspired to cook in the middle of the day. This f**kin’ halibut with a tomato basil compote was sooooo good. I will be making this again!
Families that workout together…
Great job, Davio! Did his first bench press today. Very impressed!
Happy Father’s Day!
Magic Castle brunch with the family on Sunday. Charlie wasn’t feeling it at first, but I promised she loved it once she got inside.
Spooky night time workout. Cue the werewolf howl. 🐺
This guy works fu***ng hard.
This first pic was a little over a year ago. Scroll to see Jonathan today.
You inspire me brother. 💪🏼🔥
What is Specialty Coffee?
According to the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association), it is any coffee that scores over 80 by a Q grader.
So, what is a Q grader and why does their opinion matter? Think of a Q grader the same way you would think about a wine sommelier. They specialize in tasting all aspects of a coffee and are able to rate it based on flavor, texture, brightness, etc. Only the best coffee scores above 80 and is categorized as “specialty coffee.”
At OCD Coffee Club we try to drive the bar a little higher and only buy beans that have scored above 85. Even if we are using certain beans for a blend, they do not score lower than 85. If we are lucky, we will buy unicorn coffee that scores around 90. Hard to find, but they do exist.
We are currently awaiting some unicorn coffee and can’t wait to share those roasts with you. They might be a little more expensive, but they are totally worth the investment!
Stay tuned!

My buddy Noah() came by the other day to work on a project and arrived a little early. Jonathan () and I were working out, so Noah was kind enough to snap a few pictures.
i’m really proud of the dedication Jonathan has put into his workouts this year. Results are paying off!
This pic was for but I really dug the squat rack in the back, so thought I’d share it. Plus my mustache is looking epic, so…
Thanks for the awesome pic, 📸
Car show before a day at the beach in Malibu. This guy and I talked about his 66 GTO and how to get a pump on before a cars and coffee. 😂
thank you for the awesome pic 📸
Never feels like work when you train guys you like. I feel so lucky!
These two put in the work and it shows. So proud of you guys.
We need to do more partner workouts like this. It might not be on a Friday The 13th, but we will for sure have a scary movie on in the background! 😛
If you’re tired of the same old glute bridge, try this variation. Try to land as softly as possible.
One of my clients left his flannel in my gym. I think it looks pretty nice on me. How much ransom do you think I could get for it?
I’m not gonna lie, staying focused during this time in my life is next to impossible. Two kids under three years old, full time health coaching business and building the brand eats up most of my time and energy. Getting my workouts in and eating well feels like a punishment more than a reward most days.
I’m so grateful to have everything I have and to be surrounded by supportive and loving people.
I’m thankful I was able to not just survive this last year, but thrive despite all the obstacles throw at us everyday. I’ve learned the importance of slowing down and taking on one thing at a time, both physically and mentally.
With my 44th birthday quickly approaching on April 17th, I guess I’m just a little more reflective than usual.
I really only have one thing to say to today’s work out. 🖕🏼
Decided to do a quick CrossFit WOD, Fran to finish today’s workout.
A yoga ball is a piece of equipment that I generally have most of my virtual clients purchase. I really love it for a variety of reasons. It’s just so versatile and can be easily stored, if you have limited space.
This exercise is an incline position chest press. You can also do a flat press as well as a fly and the list goes on and on.
If you are interested in trying out some of the exercises that I post, feel free to jump in on one of my virtual classes on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturdays. You can DM me for specific times and a zoom link. I always encourage people to try the first class for free to see if they like it.
Had another fantastic workout session with the always buff 💪🏼 he is finally starting to get some fashion sense.
I am unbelievably grateful for him and all my clients that not only toughed it out during this pandemic, but also got some killer results.
If you are looking for a little structure and accountability around your workouts hit me up in a DM. Yes, socks and short shorts are mandatory for both virtual and in-person workouts. You’ll thank me later. 😘
Last year I read a book that had a huge impact on my life. Since then my world has been flipped upside down, between the pandemic and having our second baby.
I’m just now starting to have the capacity to revisit that book and apply the principles and I’m happy to report it’s again having an amazing impact.
I highly recommend picking up a copy of Miracle Morning, if you feel like you’d like to clear your head and build some clarity in your life.
If you have questions or if you’ve done the MM I’d love to hear your thoughts.
So proud of my friend and client 🔥
All of his hard work paid off and I feel like we are just scratching the surface.
Yo Jonathan, I’ve got on line two.
1.5 Lunge Jumps is a fan favorite. You can do this with or without weights, but either way you’re getting a great workout in.

What is a "Whole Food?"
Whole food get throw around so much these days, it's not surprising that most people just pretend to know what it means. Working with clients both 1:1 and in our virtual group, the question often pops up and surprises me every time.
Quickly and simply, a whole food is a food that it's most original state when you consume it with zero to minimal processing. For example chicken breast is a whole food, while chicken sausage would be processed. A whole food is generally one ingredient, while a processed food has multiple ingredients, typically including some kind of preservative, added sugar and/or dyes.
Many coaches and nutritionist won't even focus their attention on calories when working with clients because for most people eating a whole food diet that excludes processed foods will almost immediately trigger fat loss.
Why?
There are few reasons, but again to keep it quick and simple, when we're consuming whole foods, we generally don't over eat. It's hard to over eat on grilled chicken, scrambled eggs and roasted vegetables. Most people tend to struggle with over consuming chips, breads, pasta and such.
Are there other parameters that can speed up fat loss? Sure. But if you're goal is to improve health and loss body fat, switching from a processed food diet to whole foods, is a fantastic first step.
If you have questions or feel like you need help, feel free to hit me up. I'm happy to assist.
KB Front to Reverse Lunge is very deceptive. You don’t even need to add weight to this, body weight can be enough for most people. Give these a try and see if they don’t completely exhaust your legs. I recommend doing at least 10 on each side to get the burn going. 🔥
If you like this exercise and you want to add a little variety to your current work out or even create some accountability around starting a new workout habit, consider checking out our virtual class. Check out the link in the bio for more information.
Feel free to DM me as well.
Working the single arm row with the land mine is one of my favorite moves. Here I’m using the gut wrench from
we don’t normally use equipment like this during our virtual workout classes, but if you happen to have the space, I recommend picking one of these up.
If you are interested in checking out our new virtual class in the new year, check out the link in our bio.
This Guatemala Gesha coffee is one of the best! I don’t have much left, but if you are interested in having some, hit me up in a DM. At $50 a pound it is a little pricey, but totally worth it from the first to the last sip.
I smell something yummy! This week I roasted off Gesha, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Kenya beans. It’s been a busy week to say the least.
Next month when my new roaster arrives I’m going to need about eight people to be my quality tasters. If this is something you are interested in doing, let me know via DM. Basically I am looking for feedback about specific roasts as I work out all the kinks with my new commercial roaster.
make sure to follow on IG.
Here’s a fun exercise to add to the rotation. It’s a long jump to push-up and reverse bear crawl. I like to pepper these into my virtual classes because they get the heart rate up and there is a lot of modifications depending on someone’s fitness level.
Let’s leap into 2021 and try to shake off as much of 2020 as possible.
Doing a glute bridge is all about isolation. Can you activate as much as your glutes as possible without engaging your lower back?
Try channeling your inner Patrick Swayze and just rock that pelvis if you’re still not sure. 😎 I love me some Dirty Dancing!
Roasted off 5 pounds yesterday. Roasting outdoors is a little more difficult. The wind plays a big roll when using an outdoor stovetop burner. Was planning to roast again today to fulfill all my orders, but it’s just too windy.
Regardless, these beans came out great. Roasted an Ethiopia, Gesha, Guatemala and Kenya. Yum! Can’t wait to share these.
People have asked me how to roast at home. I’ve even had a few LA friends drop by to learn. If you’d like to learn, let me know. I might be able to put together a live tutorial demonstration for everyone. Would be fun!

A little over a year ago I decided to figure out how to roast my own coffee beans. I know it might sound weird, but when I find something I love, really good coffee in this case, I want to know how someone can make it taste so good.
Some might think it’s obsessive, but it’s just how I function. It doesn’t have to relate to health either. NY Pizza, Umami Burger, Buffalo Wings, whatever, if I taste it and I love it, I need to know how to make it at home.
When I first tasted higher quality coffee from private roasters in LA, I knew I needed to give it a go. I’d say at this point I can match or beat pretty much any coffee roast I’ve tasted.
Coffee is like wine. When you finally taste great wine, you get to experience the full spectrum of favors. Chocolate, berries, spices, etc. Great coffee is the same. Every bean has a different flavor potential. Some do better at light roasts, some do better at dark. It’s really about your palate and what you love.
So if you’ve never had good quality coffee that’s freshly roasted (within ten days of it being roasted), you’re missing out.
