Outside the world is ever moving, there’s an unending hustle to each day that tries to sweep me up into its chaotic rhythms. Like a white water river that flows at speeds not intended for my sensitive soul. How lucky am I to take a step back each time you call? To find a quiet space to bring you nourishment. To look into your eyes as I witness a settling in. Settling into this precious moment in time. Where everything outside is still moving at speeds not designed for presence. I have the honor to nourish your body as you nourish my soul. My sweet baby, thank you 🙏🏻

World breastfeeding Week :: Lactation Professionals

Breastfeeding usually comes with some level of challenge which can often be tackled with professional help! There are many different types of lactation professionals including lactation counselors, consultants and even breastfeeding medicine doctors as well as oral surgeons who may be called on to help with an oral tie release for example.

Most breastfeeding journeys will come with some level of challenge - there is no shame in accepting help! Breastfeeding is hard but for many it’s worth the fight!

Other sources of support may include postpartum Dullass, lactation support groups like .leche.league and other trained professionals like craniosacral therapists.

Did you know your baby moves and rotates to navigate your pelvis during labor and birth?

In a textbook they are labeled the “cardinal movements” but let’s be real - babies have held this wisdom since the beginning of human kind. Yes, both you and your baby are active participants in the labor and birth process. This is why it’s key to stay mobile, helping baby to find the space they need to be born.

This is one of my favorite doula memories. This birth was epic. Watching this mama transform from “I can’t do this” to “I am supported and strong” in only a matter of minutes was a true testament to what the environment, mindset, and support can do for us in labor and birth. you are amazing and I’ll never ever forget this.

We said goodbye to our matriarch this weekend. A beautiful tribute to her long and full life. We were truly so blessed to have her for as long as we did but it definitely made saying goodbye even more surreal. ❤️
