NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the West Mifflin Sanitary Sewer and Stormwater Authority Board of Directors Meeting scheduled for July 11th, 2024 at 6:00pm has been cancelled and rescheduled for July 2nd, 2024 at 6:00pm. The meeting will be located at 1302 Lower Bull Run Road, West Mifflin Pa., 15122 in the conference room.
If you wish to be added to the agenda please contact our office at 412-466-6070 at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled meeting date.

WMSSSA has successfully met the Minimum Control Measure (MCM #2) by partnering with Walnut Grove Christian School (Grades K1&2 through 6th) on a stormwater coloring contest to help educate the students on stormwater runoff! A winner from each grade was selected and won a gift card!

WMSSSA would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to Walnut Grove for participating in this event & we look forward to working with them in the future for other stormwater activities!

Notice to Residents and Non-Residential Customers -

Beginning September 2023, a Stormwater Management Fee will be included in your monthly billing. For more information please visit our website. https://wmssma.org/stormwater-%2F-ms4

This fee was necessitated by:
- The Mandate from the State and DEP
- The rising cost of upgrading and maintaining an aging system
- Best Management Practices necessary for clean water

*Single Family Residential Fee 2023: $7.00 per month

*Non-Residential Fee Cost Per ERU:
0-200 ERU: $7.00
201-500 ERU: $5.00
501 - 1000 ERU: $3.00
1001 - 5000 ERU: $1.00

*ERU is short for the Equivalent Residential Unit. This number was calculated after a study was conducted by the Authority Engineers. The Study determined that the average impervious surface area of a residential home in the Borough was 2,200 sq ft. (1 ERU=2,200 sq ft.)*

Example of Non-Residential Calculation:
Calculated Impervious Area 450,000 sq ft/2,200 sq ft = 205 ERU’s
(201-500 ERU $5.00 per ERU)
205 ERU’s x $5.00 = $1,025.00

Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) will officially reopen July 10th & run until August 11th, or until all funds are expended.

This program will run with the same eligibility criteria as when the program was available in 2022.

The water that doesn't soak into the ground picks up oil, litter, fertilizers, and any other unhealthy items along the way that will eventually end up in our rivers, streams & lakes. I'm sure by now you have received this flyer in your sewage bill! The MS4 program is administrated by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP). WMSSMA has applied to be a co-permittee in August 2022 & is waiting PA DEP approval to assist the Borough in completing their annual MS4 requirements. This is a required permit; it is not optional.
Be sure to keep a look out in your upcoming bills for more info!

ROAD WORK AHEAD!

Our Sewer Crew is out on the road today fixing a force line break at the intersection of Greensprings Avenue & Henry Street. Expect some minor traffic delays. Please be careful when driving in that area! Kudos to them for working so hard out in the rain!!!
