Saturday morning plant vibes. It’s not hoarding if it’s plants.

Been digging Jade for many years. A few pics of my own and care instructions for future enthusiasts:

Assuming you’re growing jade plants as houseplants, you’ll want to find the brightest spot in the house. They can handle direct sunlight streaming in through the window, something many houseplants can’t handle without getting sunburnt. Also, like most other tropical plants, jade plants hate the cold, so keep them away from drafty windows and doors.

How to Water Jade Plants:
Jade plants are succulents (they hold water in their leaves), so they don’t do well when sitting in constantly moist soil, so let the top 1 to 2 inches of soil dry out between waterings. Indoors, this will probably mean watering once every 2 to 3 weeks.

How to Prune Jade Plants:
The only time you need to prune jade plants is when you see dead, dying, or shriveled branches. If that happens, just snip them off. Jade plants are really forgiving and will just keep growing wherever you cut.

How to Create More Jade Plants:
These plants are easy to multiply (or propagate). Just break off a piece, strip off the lower leaves, and let the bottom of the cut piece (called a cutting) dry out for a couple of days! Place in lightly damp soil, then start watering regularly when you give the cutting a tug and feel some resistance, which will mean it has grown roots and can take up water.

Hens and chicks is one of my favorite succulents, because of its ornate external root and vine system, plus it’s easy to propagate. The parent rosettes are the "hens" and the smaller rosettes that spring from them are the "chicks."

Light: Grow your plants in full sun (at least six hours daily), which will lead to both optimal coloration in the foliage, as well as plentiful offsets. That being said, the plants can grow in partial shade as well, especially if being cared for in a hot, dry climate.

Soil: The main soil requirement for the plant is that it be well-draining. If your soil is heavy and doesn't drain well, work some peat and sand or perlite into the mixture to increase the aeration and drainage.

If you're growing your plants in a container, the best potting medium is a mix formulated for succulents and cactus. I prefer the Black Gold brand cactus mix.

Water: These are drought-tolerant perennials, so they can withstand going weeks at a time without proper watering. Give newly transplanted plants sufficient water to help them get established, but once they are, be careful not to over-water them.

Schefflera Amate

Schefflera is a leafy green plant found in the flourishing rainforests of Australia. Amate is a part of the Schefflera plant genus, a member of the Araliaceae family.

The plant becomes quite large even indoors – with glossy green leaves reaching 10 – 12 inches across or more. In the wild, Schefflera amate grows up to 40 feet tall. In your home, you can keep it under 10 feet with pruning.

Watering: The most common mistake made with these plants is overwatering. Let the soil almost completely dry out between waterings. Typically, you don't want to water your Schefflera more than once every 10 days.

This tree is easy to grow and requires very little upkeep, as long as you provide enough light. I can recommend this plant for houseplant beginners or indoor gardeners who have a “black thumb.”

In my experience, Schefflera amate does best in bright, indirect light. I keep mine in an east-facing window where it receives direct sun for a couple hours a day and indirect light the rest of the day. Although it can tolerate less light than other varieties, amate is NOT a low-light plant.

String of Pearls: Senecio Rowleyanus is a beautiful, cascading succulent that will add a neat vibe to any house. The plant grows fast and propagates easily. Here are a few care tips that you need to know.

Light: At least 6 to 8 hours of bright light a day.

Watering: Recommended amount is once every two weeks. During winter time, cut back watering to once per month.

Fertilize: Once every 2 or 4 weeks in spring and mid-summer.

Propagation: You just need a healthy 3-4 in long cutting to start propagating. Lay the cutting down on the soil and press down lightly, root will gradually grow out of the cutting.

For animals, eating part of the plant can really be devastating as it can cause lethargy, drooling, itching, and painful skin, leading to your pet's distress. With that in mind, make sure to place your String of Pearls in a spot away from any of your pets.

Suck at Succulents? Here are some tips!

• Make sure your succulents get 6 hours of sun per day
• Rotate 1x per month to maintain shape
• Water when the top is 1.25” dry
• Use the right soil: Choose cactus soil or mix potting soil with sand, pumice, or perlite
• Pests shouldn’t be a problem for indoor succulents. But gnats are attracted to succulents that are planted in soil that is too wet and doesn’t have proper drainage
• Light fertilizer feedings during the spring and summer
