🦷 The first line of defense against gum disease is a unique type of cleaning called “scaling and root planing.” In this procedure, an ultrasonic cleaning device is used to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth where regular cleaning devices can’t reach. Then, the rough surface of the tooth and the root are smoothed out. This provides a healthy, clean surface that makes it easier for the gum tissue to reattach to the tooth. 🦷 Have more questions? 🪡 🦷 Let's Talk Flossing! 🦷 🪡 Although it may seem like an easy enough task, there is a preferred method to make sure you are getting the most out of your flossing routine:

🦷 STEP 1: Wind about 18 inches of floss around your fingers. Most of it should be wrapped around one finger, and the other finger takes it up as the floss is used.

🦷 STEP 2: Use your thumbs and forefingers to guide about one inch of floss between your teeth.

🦷 STEP 3: Holding the floss tightly, gently saw it between your teeth. Then curve the floss into a C-shape against one tooth and gently slide it beneath your gums.

🦷 STEP 4: Slide the floss up and down, repeating for each tooth.
