Full Job Description

Brief Description: A freight agent is an independent contractor with the ability and tools to help connect shippers and carriers to transport freight. A freight agent is employed by a freight broker and is required to search for shippers and find available carriers to transport freight.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers
Negotiate rates with customers/shippers
Contribute to the expansion of Celest logistics by building positive relationships with existing and new clients.
Adhere to company policies and procedures
Advertise freight on various load boards and contact carriers for booking
Verify and confirm load rate and carrier credentials prior to freight dispatch
Verify carrier has all requirements aligned for assigned freight
Processing customer orders as required
Coordinate between carrier drivers or carrier dispatcher and freight customer/shipper
Problem solve driver and/or carrier issues
Maintain carrier profile information
Qualifications:
Proficient in Excel
High School diploma or GED
Ability to work independently
Great communication and customer service skills
Negotiation skills
Problem solving skills
Some sales experience
Must have computer and internet capability
Ability to copy and file documents (hardcopy and electronic)
Data entry experience
Some typing skills
Ability to handle high call volumes

Salary: Commission paid weekly (plus incentives)!
