Artwork inspired by Hypoluxo Scrub Natural Area is on display at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens in West Palm Beach. The 98-acre Palm Beach County natural area was the muse for artist Paul Gervais who highlighted this piece of unspoiled Florida in nearly 40 oil paintings. As Gretel Sarmiento wrote in her article for the Florida Weekly - Palm Beach Edition, “When Gervais first set eyes on this preserved natural area a few years ago (from inside a moving train), it might as well have been the discovery of a new world. It was for the American visual artist who keeps studios in West Palm Beach and London. He was returning home from Art Basel Miami when he spotted the vast piece of land extending along the train tracks. Judging from the large and small-scale vistas of canopies and blue skies, Gervais fell hard for the raw habitat housing scrub oaks, prickly vegetation, saw palmettos, wildflowers, and gopher tortoises.”

Paul’s exhibition – An Endangered Landscape; Recent Paintings of the Hypoluxo Scrub - is on display inside the historic Norton House through January 7, 2024. Visit ansg.org/upcoming-exhibitions for details. Read Gretel’s entire article about the artwork and artist here - palmbeach.floridaweekly.com/articles/timeless-florida.
