Over the past several decades I have purchased gear from one of the foremost online camera companies and to their credit it has been an overall good experience, albeit a bland one.

This said there is another option I want to discuss and one all us photographers should consider. It is supporting your local camera store. The logo in the photograph is one from Wyoming Camera Outfitters, specifically from the Wyoming Camera Outfitters - Jackson.

Many of you know I have spent several weeks in Jackson Hole and every time I would go to the local camera store, not only for the experience of shopping but also the camaraderie.

It was here I met Travis Lucas who runs the store, we started to get to know each other, talked back and forth on Facebook. When my family and I would go back out west we would go in to see Travis and play with the camera store doggy. Each time, I would find something to buy, of course...

Now I am back home in FL and the Wyoming Camera Outfitters - Jackson is far from local but a phone call makes all the difference. Travis is getting me set on my next lens and will be mailing it out once they get it in stock. It was a great experience and one that didn't cost me anymore than I would have paid through "that other company" (which didn't have the lens in stock either!). It helps them locally and fosters a good business AND personal relationship.

Travis is a good dude, loves to talk shop, and runs a great store near the Grand Teton National Park. What is not to love about that?

So, when you buy, consider buying local before the ability to is gone forever. If you don't have a local store, consider Wyoming Camera Outfitters - Jackson, you won't be disappointed!

Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a glimpse into to the past. This would have been a hard life to live and in an environment which at times could be incredibly difficult.

Many of the inhabitants were born, lived, and died within the cove never traveling more than ten miles from home.

Simple? Yes. Easy? Absolutely not.

After my recent discovery at Hobby Lobby I thought a bear post was in order. Who doesn't like to look at bears? I don't exactly have many but each time it was a fantastic memory!

Today my wife and I went shopping at Hobby Lobby. To my surprise, one of my photographs was being sold in their home decor section! This is one of my prints provided to a stock agency so it's all on the up and up...
