Winter Solstice.... a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is a glimmer of hope and light. Cuddle with loved ones, wrap up in soft blankets, and light candles to chase away the shadows. It's a time for introspection, gratitude, and setting intentions for the coming year. No matter how dark our days may seem, there is always a flicker of light within us. It's a light that can guide us through our own personal winters. Cheers to nature's reminder of our strength to endure and emerge from life's challenges stronger!
Love is everywhere in nature.
The beauty of nature is in its uniqueness; every tree, every river, every cloud is like no other.
Amidst anticipation, the magnolia stands on the cusp of transformation, its petals poised to unfurl like secrets whispered to the world. In this delicate moment, it reminds us that growth requires patience, and every phase of life holds the promise of beauty and renewal.

I love this part of my husband and I… the deep deep us… loving the essence of shakti mantras together and chanting. This was recorded a long time ago…. When we were doing Ayurveda courses together. We go through periods of time where we do this more than others… today I stumbled upon this recording while looking for something on SoundCloud. We sat together and listened… and meditated… powerful and intimate moment in time.

Ayurveda is all about disease prevention. It consists of a body of knowledge and brilliant strategies for building resistance against disease by catching imbalances early. This is called rasayana or rejuvenative therapies. When I was a kid my mom used to say "a stitch in time saves nine." Ayurveda totally works from that principle.
One important aspect of rasayana is gratitude. Positive thoughts literally send "health messages" to our neuroendocrine system. It's normal to have some negative thoughts, it's part of being human. But when we linger in them, they become a health liability.
We can use Thanksgiving as a time to step up our gratitude a notch or two. Perhaps this inquiry will set up a deeper paradigm for you. It did for me. Should we only be grateful for certain things? Which things in your life are blessings and which ones aren't?
Here's a Hasidic story to reflect upon.
There was a farmer who had a very fine horse. One day his horse ran away. The neighbors came to commiserate the farmer on the loss of his horse. “Let’s see, let’s see,” replied the farmer. Sometime later, the horse returned with a herd of wild horses. The neighbors came to congratulate the farmer on the return of his horse and the addition of the new horses. But he just replied, “Let’s see, let’s see.” The farmer’s son was strong and athletic and enjoyed riding the wild horses. But one day, he fell off and broke his leg. The neighbors were worried and came to commiserate the farmer on his son’s accident. The farmer again replied, “Let’s see, let’s see.” Soon after, war broke out. The Russian army arrived to conscript all the young men of the village to fight in the war—most likely, never to return. Everyone was taken, except for the young man with the broken leg. Then the farmer said, “Now I know it was a good thing that my horse ran away.”
Cultivating that kind of gratitude is a skill to master. Ups and downs are part of the journey. When we feel, process, and move though our emotions, the lessons become obvious. We complete the circle of karma. Deep, embodied gratitude naturally follows the digestion of our life lessons. That allows us to sit back and say: "Lets see, let's see."
Let's also remember to create support for ourselves during our challenging times with the same enthusiasm we have for helping others in need. Giving and receiving is another potent form of gratitude.
Our body/mind complex is a fantastic and powerful instrument we can use to create our best life. Your own energy is your secret superpower. Empower yourself with gratitude.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Namaste,
Sarita
