Our basmati rice is about a month away from being harvested. This variety is the only true basmati variety grown in the US and we are the only farmers who grows it at scale. Once cooked, it has very similar aroma and kernel elongation compared to imported Indian basmati rice.

We are excited to partner with FEED Cooperative to deliver our products to home cooks.

I planted purple vetch as a cover crop in two of our rice fields this week. After the vetch seed was spread, I used this roller to cover the seed.

This cover crop will grow over the winter and early spring. I plan to mow and incorporate it into the soil in early April and then plant jasmine rice in early May.

Vetch is a legume that is able to fix nitrogen from the atmosphere into the soil using bacteria. This will provide natural fertility in the soil for our next rice crop.
