Expired caulking must be removed and replaced before the materials it was meant to protect become exposed to the elements causing water damage or even erosion in some cases. Once the prior existing sealant, packaging and debris have been cleared from the area, the openings must be insulated with backer rod, as seen in these photos, which provides further support in ensuring an accurate seal.

Enjoying restoration projects at various commercial spaces. Expired sealants need to be removed before the restoration process can begin. Once the openings are cleaned out and treated accordingly, new sealants are applied to ensure accurate thermal and moisture protection.
