SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Emily began taking dance classes at the age of three. Likely from that very first day, dance has been her passion and ambition. She will continue her dance career as a professional with South Carolina ballet for their 24-25 season, which will include classical pieces, such as Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, and The Nutcracker. She joined Dance Expressions in 2013, focusing on ballet, tap, lyrical, contemporary, and jazz. Ballet quickly became her focus, but she has continued with tap as well. In 2021, she also began ballet training at Jose Mateo Ballet Theater. She has also danced with Dance Prism Ballet, a classically focused performance ensemble since 2019, beginning in their Nutcracker regional. At DPB, she has danced many roles in various ballets, including The Nutcracker’s Clara for two seasons and Dew Drop Fairy in 2023. She became a DPB company member in 2023 at the age of 17.
Finding Dance Expressions in 2013 was certainly a providential event in Emily‘s dance journey. She credits her ballet discipline and technique foundations to Miss Laurene, who has continually champion her training in advancement. Every artist needs that person that truly knows how to motivate them, understanding their inner drive for perfection. Miss Laurene is that for Emily! She is grateful for all the classes, the competitions, the heart-to-heart, the opportunity teach ballet, and the unwavering support throughout the years. It is all prepared her for beginning her professional ballet career in the fall.

It was an amazing weekend of dance at SDA competition. I am elated with the journey my dancers experienced from the friendship bonds they made, the support and love for their dance friends, the lasting memories and the lifelong lessons that they learnt along the way.🙏🏻 My heart is full!! 💞🩷🩰
