Yesterday our school was visited by Firefighters and a Firetruck! Our students were able to go through the inside of the firetruck and see all of the cool gear the firemen wear. We also learned the 3 important fire safety rules.🔥🚒

1. Go to bed at night with your bedroom door closed.🛏️
2. Stay low (under the smoke)!
3. Don't play with matches or lighters.

Take your summer to the next level with these easy hacks!

• If you’re little one isn’t a fan of sunscreen, make it a game and paint it on with a make-up brush!
• If beach days are in your future, keep the sand there using talc-free baby powder. It will wipe off easily.
• Sticky popsicles are a child’s must-have in warm weather. Prevent a mess using cupcake liners to catch any drips.
• No bathroom for miles? No problem! Bring a training potty with you for road trips. Stick a disposable diaper in the potty for even easier clean up.

Today is Juneteenth, a day that celebrates African American freedom and achievement. It has inspired film, TV, art and literature for adults and children – including our littlest learners! To help teach your children about this momentous day in history, we wanted to share four books all about Juneteenth.

WOW!! Yesterday we were visited by the petting zoo and our students got to meet SO many animal friends!🐎🐷 We spent the morning meeting them, brushing them and learning all of their names! We were visited by 2 ponies, 1 donkey, 1 cow, 1 alpacha, 2 llamas, 3 goats, 3 sheep, 1 pig, and 3 bunnies! So fun!🐮🐴🐑

This week has been our plants and gardening week!🪴 Our students have learned all about plant care, the different stages of a plants life and what plants from different parts of the world look like!🌱🌻 We also refreshed our plant garden! Our students will spend the summer watering them, taking care of them and watching them grow! Eventually they will even eat some them.😮🍅

With Fathers Day taking place on Sunday, this Friday we will be hosting Donuts with Dad! On Friday from 7am - 9:30am we invite all Dads, Grandfathers, and other Male Role Models to join us in the lobby for donuts and coffee!

BUG WARNING!🦋🐝 To cap off Bug Week last week, we enjoyed a visit from The Bug Man! He brought in a Praying Mantis, Hermit Crabs and Hissing Cockroaches for us to meet and learn about! How cool!🪳🐚🐛

The Goddard School of Alexandria (Old Town), VA, is now open! Congratulations to owners Akhil and Madhu Govil. This is the fourth location for the co-owners, who also own The Goddard School of Ashburn, The Goddard School of Ashburn Leesburg, and The Goddard School of Waldorf.

As owners & grandparents, their goal is to continue to provide a foundation of learning to all the young children in Alexandria who are the beacon of the great future. They are excited for the opportunity and look forward to serving the Old Town Alexandria community.

It's BUG WEEK!🐛💚 All of our classrooms have dived right into the first theme of the summer and it has been so fun watching our students learn all about bugs! ALSO, on Tuesday we introduced Caterpillar friends into our older classrooms and we are in the process of narrowing down names for our little friends before there go into their cocoons, so if you think of any at home with your little one please give us your suggestions!🦋🐞
