The fencing project at White Oak Elementary School is almost complete and the Joint Use Agreement for public use of the school field will go into effect once the fence project is finished.

The School District is working with their contractor to finalize the fencing installation, with completion of all remaining items expected by next week or soon thereafter. Once the School District deems the fence project complete, the Joint Use Agreement will go into effect and the gates will be open after school hours for the public to access the school fields.

Signage will be installed to remind residents of the field rules as we want to preserve the quality of the fields and provide a clean, healthy environment for students and staff. We ask all residents to follow the posted rules in order to achieve this goal.

🚨Do you know your zone? Know Your Zone is collaborative effort with Los Angeles County that aims to prepare residents and businesses for emergencies or evacuations.

🗺️ Zonehaven AWARE is a mapping tool that is used in combination with public alert and warning systems such as ALERT LA County and the City's Blackboard Connect program.

Residents should know their zone and sign up for alerts to receive evacuation orders when issued by public officials. When evacuation warnings or orders are issued, notices will include Zone designations in addition to major streets and intersections.

🌐🔍For essential evacuation information, visit the ‘Know Your Zone’ map on the website. Search your address to identify your evacuation zone and ensure your household is prepared.

In honor of we wanted to remind you of some important tips for when you encounter wildlife out on a hike, in your backyard or even around town.

The is located next to the Santa Monica Mountain Range, which means we experience a wide range of wildlife right here in our town.

Be sure to follow these tips to safely interact with wildlife:

🦅 Don’t feed wildlife. Removing attractants like pet food and open trash containers from your backyard helps deter animals from entering residential areas.

🦔 Don’t try to pet the animals. Avoid touching any wildlife you see as even the cutest wild animal can bite or scratch you.

🐍 Don’t get too close. Most wild animals don’t love it when you invade their space and they can attack if they feel threatened.

🐿️ Don’t provoke, sneak up on, or scare animals. Wild animals are unpredictable and they will protect themselves at all costs.

🦊 Do make noise. It alerts animals to your presence, so you don’t scare them.

🦉 Do make sure the animal has enough space to leave. You don't want to make the animal feel trapped during your encounter, so make sure you give them space to leave. Try your best to guide yourself and the animal where there is space to leave so the animal wanders off on its own.

🔐Help make safer! Take a look back at some tips from our May Newsletter to improve your home security:

✔️Keep valuables hidden and securely locked.
✔️Trim shrubs to eliminate hiding spots.
