Tonight, children and families will excitedly fan out across our communities to trick-or-treat in celebration of Halloween. Whether you're a pedestrian, a motorist, or both, please be extra vigilant of your surroundings. The responsibility lies with both pedestrians and drivers to prioritize safety and help reduce fatalities on our roads and in our neighborhoods. Let's have a safe and happy !
A favorite tradition at CommonSpirit Holy Cross Hospital - Davis is the annual Halloween costume contest for our precious NICU babies. Every costume is made by the hospital's NICU and Nursery nurses, whose creativity is outdone only by their compassion!
This , embrace the joy of togetherness and the special bonds we hold close. Share smiles, laughter, and moments that matter most with your loved ones. 🎃
Most pedestrian fatalities happen in the dark or during low-light conditions. With shorter days upon us and Halloween on tap, make sure you're doing your part to prevent accidents from happening in our communities. Remember to:
🧐 Drive alert at all times, especially in areas near schools, parks, shopping centers and transit stops.
🐢 Follow the speed limit — speeding endangers everyone on the road but puts pedestrians at the greatest risk.
🚶 Use caution while turning and be aware of pedestrians when traffic signals turn green.
Congratulations to John Swanhorst on being named President and Chief Nursing Officer at CommonSpirit St. Elizabeth Hospital in Fort Morgan! He's also an established leader within CommonSpirit Health, having first joined our organization as an Emergency Department staff nurse at St. Anthony Hospital. John has since held numerous leadership positions, including Clinical Nurse Manager at St. Anthony, Director of Emergency Services for the region, and most recently, Vice President of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer at St. Elizabeth Hospital. We are fortunate to have John serving our ministry and patients in Morgan County and beyond.
Pedestrian fatalities have been at an all-time high in recent years. Our CommonSpirit Health trauma services and injury prevention teams urge you to protect yourself and your loved ones by remembering these safety tips:
◾ Use sidewalks whenever possible.
◾ Cross streets at designated crosswalks or intersections.
◾ Avoid distractions like phones while crossing the street.
◾ Look out for cars entering or exiting driveways or parking lots.
◾ Make eye contact with drivers before proceeding at a crosswalk.
When it comes to your health and well-being, humankindness can make all the difference.

You never know who you'll run into (or poke with a needle) when you put on a vaccine clinic for the Denver Broncos. Broncos legend and Hall of Famer Steve Atwater was among the team staff, alumni and family members to receive flu and COVID vaccines from our amazing caregivers yesterday and today at both Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit and Empower Field at Mile High.
Remember, flu and COVID vaccines help protect yourself, your loved ones, and our entire community. Learn more at www.mountain.commonspirit.org/flu-shot
As we celebrate , we come together in appreciation of the diverse culture. With strength, kindness, and rich traditions, the Filipino community continues to brighten and enrich our communities.
With the Denver Broncos off today and still relishing that resounding Thursday night win over the Saints, we're thinking back to last weekend when we partnered with the Broncos to honor cancer survivors. Among the honored survivors at the Fight Like a Bronco game were 10 of our very own teammates here at CommonSpirit Health, each of whom participated in the pregame show and a reception in their honor, and then enjoyed the game as a guest of the team. 💪
"Humankindness to me means treating people with respect, treating them with kindness. I definitely felt that." Marlene share's her message for others who may have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.
We are proud to share that Abbi-Lynn Washington, an ICU nurse at CommonSpirit St. Anthony North Hospital, was chosen as the CommonSpirit Health Mountain Region recipient of the inaugural Humankindness and Health Justice Award!
Abbi-Lynn consistently embodies humankindness and what it means to provide empathetic and equitable care. Her robust nursing career has proven her willingness and ability to go above and beyond to amplify the voices of those most vulnerable and to work tirelessly to provide health justice. Her nomination letter reads, “Abbi-Lynn has recently completed her doctorate and created a project focused on non-biased documentation. She showed how documentation can feed into biases in the healthcare setting. She used her presentation to train and teach other units in the hospital as well as other sites. She is single-handedly changing the way nurses are documenting and helping decrease bias in our practice environment.”
The Humankindness and Health Justice Awards were created to recognize individuals and organizations within the CommonSpirit Health community that are leading efforts to advance health equity and embody the spirit of humankindness. The awards are part of the Lloyd H. Dean Institute for Humankindness and Health Justice’s broader mission to promote compassionate care and health justice across the healthcare system. We are so proud of Abbi-Lynn. Please join us in congratulating her!

Our caregivers was their hands ... a lot. And for good reason. Washing your hands is one of the easiest and most important ways to prevent infection and the spread of germs and illness, whether or not you're in a hospital or care setting. Today is Global Handwashing Day, a perfect time to remind all of us the importance of good hand hygiene and its direct tie to our own health. When in doubt, give your hands a good scrub with soap and water and encourage your loved ones to do the same.
Spending time with friends and family can do more than boost our mood – it can actually boost our longevity as much as 50%.

It was a joy to see Hannah Evans back in Colorado last week. The teen's reunion with our two Flight For Life Colorado nurses who transported her from the slopes of Breckenridge to St. Anthony Hospital was a highlight of CommonSpirit's Trauma Symposium. Hannah is absolutely amazing, and so are the many caregivers at St. Anthony Hospital who were part of her nearly four-month hospital stay.
