From Adams County to the San Luis Valley, our community's well-being impacts us all. May we work towards a future where everyone has the opportunity to access housing.
As June's Homeownership Month comes to a close, we at CRHDC are proud to reflect on our achievements and look forward to continuing our mission. From October 2022 to September 2023, we helped create 255 new Colorado homeowners through our HUD-certified counseling and education programs and USDA RD Mutual Self-Help Program. We understand that buying a home has its increasing challenges, but remember, you’re not alone. CRHDC is here to support you every step of the way, offering resources and guidance to make homeownership a reality.
A huge thank you to our incredible CRHDC staff who make all of this possible. Your dedication and hard work are turning dreams into addresses!
On Saturday, June 8th in partnership with NeighborWorks America, we participated in in celebration of National Homeownership Month! Over 100 valley residents joined us to tour 4 nearly completed Mutual-Self Help Homes while 4 were in construction while we gathered! We also toured a new housing product from CRHDC called Contractor Built homes which utilizes similar loans for our Mutual Self-Help homes without the "sweat equity" component (now taking applications for future homes to be built in Monte Vista!). Many thanks to our food vendors, our construction vendors that donated amazing give-a-ways, and to Bob Richards from 96.5 The Fox that broadcasted LIVE from the event! We will be back next year in the beginning of June for an even better block party style celebration - open to all! Not only for the block ;) We hope this event allowed people to learn more about our programs, what's possible for them and their families, and what's possible to bring to your community! Thank you everyone helping to make Colorado a place where everyone has safe, attainable, and sustainable housing!
CRHDC is thrilled to announce that we have received a $1.5 million grant from The Colorado Health Foundation for the Tierra Azul Neighborhood project. This support marks a monumental step in Alamosa’s history, showcasing the diligence, care, and thoughtful design that will inspire future projects to come. Tierra Azul will offer roughly 400 new housing units and essential amenities, addressing urgent housing needs in the San Luis Valley community.
Arturo Alvarado, Executive Director of CRHDC says, "We are grateful to see the vision for the Tierra Azul Neighborhood come to life through this incredible collaboration. This project is about more than just building houses; it's about helping people and creating a brighter future for Alamosa and greater San Luis Valley community. Together, we are fostering a community where everyone can thrive."
Congratulations to all that have helped make this funding a reality and stay tuned for more Tierra Azul development updates!

We are teaming up with BMO U.S. to introduce a new financial capability program for young adults. We've kicked off group education classes earlier this year, engaging around 150 students from Westminster Public Schools, Jeffco Public Schools - Colorado, and Adams 14. Our curriculum goes beyond the basics, offering interactive workshops and comprehensive financial knowledge. Plus, completing the sessions can earn students up to $200! 💰Let's empower the next generation with the tools they need for financial success and understanding.
As comes to an end we reflect on its meaning and importance. The work is never done and we thank everyone across all organizations and agencies that continue to make equality in housing an outcome for all.
