What A Night!
We’re so excited to share that our annual Indulge for CASA: A Harvest Gala was a smashing success. With live entertainment by Face Vocal Band, delicious food and wine from Balistreri Vineyards, and specialty cocktails by , the evening was truly unforgettable.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised more than $240,000! This funding will help support our mission of providing volunteer advocacy for at-risk children and youth. This was our most successful Indulge for CASA Gala to date!

The energy was electric, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, bid, and bought raffle tickets to help us Change a Child’s Story in Adams & Broomfield Counties.

At a CASA 101, you will hear from members of the CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties team about the important work our advocates are doing in the community. You will learn about our volunteer opportunities and associated responsibilities, the application and training process, time commitment, and hear from a current volunteer about their experience with the program. Attending a CASA 101 session is a great first step to learn more about CASA and the different ways you can engage with our program.

We are especially in need of more volunteers who are BIPOC, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and/or speak Spanish.

On September 3rd, the Board of County Commissioners in Adams County proclaimed September Attendance Awareness Month.

The chronic absenteeism rate for the 2023-2024 school year in the state remains high at 27.7%, and the Colorado Department of Education is pushing to slash rates of chronic absenteeism by 50% in the next five years from the pandemic high of 35.5%.

The Adams County Collaborative Management Program, a group of school districts, local agencies and non-profits (including CASA) has elevated chronic absenteeism as a community-wide concern. Districts and agencies have banded together to raise awareness of how many kids in the county aren't going to school every day and the impact that has on the community and on future generations.

CASA has stepped up to meet this need by putting together our Family Engagement Program, a pilot program we are launching this school year! These specially trained volunteers will work one on one with families to help get kids back in school and learning every day.

Catherine Parra, Advocate Supervisor, joined CASA as a volunteer back in 2019 and has served on three cases. She is happy to be joining CASA as a staff member and have the opportunity to support other CASA Volunteers.

Frankie Dubar-Nelson, Program Administrator, became a CASA Volunteer in fall 2021 and when she heard there was a staff position available, she jumped at the chance to come on board! She is so thankful for the opportunity to make an impact in the job that she will do.

Yesterday during public hearing, the Adams County Board of Commissioners awarded $800,000 in Community Enrichment Grants to 31 nonprofit organizations working hard to support our community. These grants will fund programs that help residents meet their basic needs and empower them to achieve self-sufficiency.

When my husband retired from the Air Force and we moved home, I finally was in a place I could help. Reed Saunders has been “The Voice of Coors Field” for the Colorado Rockies baseball club in Denver since 2007. He also fills in as a backup announcer at Colorado Avalanche hockey games and Denver Broncos football games, and you may recognize his voice on local and national advertising spots. A native of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Saunders attended D’Evelyn Jr./Sr. High School (’99) and went on to earn his BA in Technical Journalism from Colorado State University in Fort Collins (’03). When not announcing, he works full-time at OUTFRONT Media in Denver. He resides in Broomfield, Colorado with his wife Laura, and two sons.
