October 26 is National Day of the Deployed, honoring those who served our country abroad.

"Gold Star Day" is a special day dedicated to honoring the families of fallen service members. It is a day to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and to show appreciation for their families' immense sacrifice and loss.

The first president was not the first face of the $1 bill! The first face to appear on this currency was Salmon P. Chase. The first $1 bill was issued during the Civil War in 1862. Chase was the Secretary of Treasury at that time and was also the designer of the country's first bank notes.

Constitution Day is a federal observance in the United States that commemorates the adoption of the US Constitution and celebrates new citizens.

On September 16th, we observe National POW/MIA Recognition Day, which is held annually on the third Friday of September. This observance is dedicated to paying tribute to those who were prisoners of war (POW) and to those who are still missing in action (MIA).

9/11 Remembrance Day. Patriot Day is an annual observance to remember and honor those who were injured or killed during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Do you know that bullets can travel faster than the speed of sound? When a bullet exceeds the speed of sound, which is approximately 1,125 feet per second or 343 meters per second, it produces a distinct sonic boom known as a "crack."

In 1776, the world saw the first use of a submarine in warfare during the Revolutionary War. The American vessel, known as "The Turtle," attempted to attach a time bomb to the bottom of the British ship Eagle, which was anchored in New York Harbor. The submarine was hand-powered and only had space for one person aboard. Unfortunately, the mission failed and the bomb detonated far from its intended target.

Friday, June 14th is the birthday of our United States Army, as well as Flag Day! Did you know that originally our army consisted of volunteer soldiers who formed together to fight in the Revolutionary War? Today, it is the largest branch of the U.S. military, full of men and women who continue to provide peace and security to all.
Our flag is a symbol of unity and freedom. George Washington proposed one flag for all during the Revolutionary War - A flag decorated with red and white stripes and a blue background behind white stars to represent the 13 colonies.

Thursday, June 6th, marks the 80th anniversary of the day that our U.S. soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy, France during the Second World War.
More than 156,000 American, British, and Canadian troops stormed 50 miles of Normandy's fiercely defended beaches in northern France. This proved to be a turning point for WWII and gave the Allied Forces an upper hand in winning the war, as they were able to secure all five beaches by June 11th.

Happy Memorial Day! Today we honor the memory of those who have served our country valiantly and lost their lives in the process.

Did you know that Patrick Henry, one of the American Founding Fathers, possessed a unique flintlock pistol engraved with the phrase "Liberty or Death?" This expression became a rallying cry for the American Revolution, and Henry's pistol serves as a symbolic artifact of that period.

The Army Reserve is a ground of military officers responsible for saving army money, reducing the demand for active army capabilities, mitigating armed capability shortfalls, and preserving the readiness of the Army as a whole. Thank you for the protection and services that you provide to our county.

Did you know that the Seabees, also known as the Navy's construction battalion, are responsible for constructing both temporary and permanent infrastructure in various U.S. military bases across the world? During World War II, more than 325,000 people served with the Seabees, building on six continents and over 300 islands.
