Four days into this first and I’m getting into the groove. Today I
• continued writing
• let go of ,
• embraced my process of ‘making parts’, and
•had a couple visitors to the .
I took a lot of time the first couple days here to just sit in silence and think. As an to three kids, a dog + 11 chickens, and who left my studio practice in 2020 to take a job working in an public school during covid to help provide for my family, I haven’t had a lot of time to just sit in silence. I also started writing again. Because there is a LOT to think about before I can even begin to put it into the work.
After letting go of some expectations I had for myself, I went ahead and just soaked in the silence. With my fingers, I literally felt the blood pulse through my neck. When I quieted myself enough, I could hear and feel my own heart beat. So I sat in silence some more and just listened.
I’m still processing my experiences, my thoughts, my feelings, but one thing is clear - I am filled with SO MUCH gratitude. Not just for this space, and this paint, and the opportunity to reconnect with my family, but for the time and the space to just sit quietly and listen. That, my friends, was sorely needed. I’ll get back to it in the morning…for now, my bucket is full and I sleep. 💗

I’m excited to be working on a huge new project that integrates (as usual) repetitive imagery, pattern, emotion with printmaking, hand stitching, and unspoken social commentary. Focusing on the connections with - and separations from - each another in this strange world that we are all navigating both together and alone. I have no idea where this will be shown when it is complete, but all things in good time. For now I’m just and . Will drop pics here on IG along the way.

Apparently there’s a whole slew of - National Sons Day and Daughters Day and Dog Day (there must be a National Pet Chicken Day!?!) so let this be my post honoring my most fantastic works of art so far: three humans, one dog, and a flock of chickens.
Silhouette carved from an old - . Still listening to what she wants to become next.
