We made Fathers Day count this weekend by taking a road trip to Rhode Island for a BJJ tournament where Sensei Manny once again gave it his all on the mat. I can’t say enough about how proud I am of his hard work and dedication to the Martial Arts. A Champion.

I myself haven’t competed since I was a white belt decades ago but decided to give it a go. The time and day were right. I was so happy to have both my sons and my very surprised wife there with me.

I faced a very solid opponent and even though I didn’t place 1st the experience was as exciting as it was 20 years ago.

The preparation is the juice, the battle is the celebration.

I want to thank all my training partners Sensei Michael, Sensei Jonathan, Joshu Gabe, Justin L., all my brothers . Every one of you that have trained with me in the past few months had a hand in this (Sarge).

Of course I want to thank Professor Fabio for passing his knowledge to me. My Tribe for the mindset and once again who took time away from his Fathers Day weekend and called me a couple of times this weekend to infuse some Martial Spirit over the phone.

Last but not least my wife for being so patient with all this madness and my boys - Mateo and Sensei Manny who are the hardest working kids that I know.
