My Pet Ate What?!

Safe Haven is excited to announce a new series of posts that will highlight the utility of endoscopy and inform you of some of the potential hazards around the home!

Dogs and cats can ingest or inhale surprisingly inappropriate things. This can include toys and clothing items. Sometimes these items pass or are expelled uneventfully however sometimes they can cause digestive issues, respiratory issues, or even a life-threatening obstruction. Surgery may be necessary however in many cases, endoscopic removal is an option. An endoscopy involves inserting a flexible tube with a small camera at the end into the gastrointestinal or respiratory tract. This can be a life-saving, non-invasive option however safe removal involves having the proper endoscopy instruments, physics, geometry, and a little finesse and sometimes a lot of creativity. It is definitely not like playing a video game.

Share your thoughts on our latest endoscopy series in the comments below!โฌ‡๏ธ

In case you missed it on Friday, we shared an incredible story about our buddy, Deebo! ๐Ÿ’š Here's a heartwarming thank-you from Deebo's family.

Remember, at Safe Haven, your pet is our pet. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ

When an emergency hospital said your only option was limb amputation...

Deebo was bitten by a presumed copperhead in early August. Because of the damage from the venom, he lost about 2/3 of his tissue on the left front limb. His prognosis was guarded, at best. Three months of wound management and Phovia treatment later, Deebo has a new lease on life! We threw him a 'pawty,' and it looks like he had a blast! Did I mention Reddi-wip was his ultimate companion, helping him through many of his treatments?๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿพ
