Merry Christmas from WFD!
A huge thank you once again goes out to Wheeling, WV City Government, and WFD Chief Jim Blazier for the new electrical and hvac upgrades to Station 4. This was also made possible but the outstanding companies of Yahn Electric Company, Inc. and Wheeling Heating, LLC. Upgrades include new boiler, teuck floor Reznors, short splits for A/C, upgraded eletrical outlets throughout the station, new speakers for the radio system, installation of bells to alert the crews, new lighting throughout the station, garbage disposal and a water fill station for the engine.
The season is here for putting up the tree and hanging the lights! Some safety reminders if you have a live tree and are decorating.
We will be passing out candy tonight during the City's trick or treat hours.
A huge thank you to Amanda Carney for the excellent work on our mural.
Over the last several months Mattucci Roofing replaced both the upper and lower roofs on Station 4. They did an excellent job and would recommend them to anyone. I would also like to thank Chief Jim Blazier , City Manger and Wheeling, WV City Government for assisting/funding this project. Without all of you, we wouldn't be able to update aging fire station infrastructure. Thank you all.
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of FE Matt McGovern. Matt dedicated 25 years to the Wheeling Fire Department. The majority of that time was spent driving Engine 4. Station 4 will never be the same without your brother.
Rest easy Brother, we will take it from here.
A special thank you to Lowes and their ‘Hometown Heroes’ initiative for the generous donation of multiple tools and other items for our firehouses. We appreciate the community partnership and thoughtfulness!
This Veterans Day, we thank everyone who served in our armed forces - including several Wheeling Firefighters!
Proceeds from Wheeling Professional Firefighters Local 12’s bi-annual “Fill the Boot” campaign was presented today to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Members noted that 2022 was a record year for donations! Thanks to everyone who helped out this year!
Over the last several months we have been blessed with a few upgrades to our station. A huge thank you goes out to WFD Chief Jim Blazier, Wheeling, WV City Government and city manager Bob Herron for working with us and allowing us to accomplish these much-needed upgrades. Thank you to Mattucci Roofing and Northgate Construction for all the hard work replacing the windows, doors and roof. Thank you to everyone involved to make this happen. I greatly appreciate all you.
