K-experience: Celebrate Korean Children's Day 2024

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago held Children's Day event, ‘Byeol-ju Bu-jeon (The Rabbit’s Liver)’ on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. 100 pre-registered participants experienced various experiences throughout 10 different stations.

시카고한인문화회관 (이하 문화회관)이 한국 어린이날을 기념하는 행사를 5월 4일 토요일에 문화회관에서 개최하였다. 올해의 행사는 한국의 전래동화 중 ‘별주부전’을 테마로 하였다. 준비된 모든 스테이션을 마치고 온 어린이들에게는 구디백이 선물로 주어졌는데, 이를 위해 특별 후원을 해주신 구광자 재정이사와 태극기를 후원해 주신 시카고 한인회에게 깊은 감사를 드린다.

특별히 이번 어린이날 행사는 2020년에 결성되어 꾸준히 자질을 다져온 문화회관 청소년 리더십 & 봉사그룹인 주니어 엠버서더가 모든 스테이션을 진행하였고, 파트너 쉽으로 참여한 기관들까지도 보조하며 그 저력을 발휘하였다. 문화회관은 내년 어린이날 행사는 이번 가을에 완공되는 비스코 홀에서 개최할 것으로 예상하고 있다.

The Children's Day event, ‘Byeol-ju Bu-jeon (The Rabbit’s Liver)’ will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at KCCoC. 100 pre-registered participants will explore varies experiences as as Korean traditional music, story telling, fun crafts, photo zone, treasure hunt, etc.

All participants will receive an event map. Once all of the stations have been completed and the map has been stamped, a special souvenir will be provided.

시카고한인문화회관이 어린이날 행사가 오는 5월 4일에 열린다. 올해에는 한국전래동화인 ‘별주부전’을 테마로 자녀와 부모가 함께 즐길 수 있는 행사를 기획하였다. 사전 등록으로 100명의 어린이들이 행사에 참가하여 구연동화, 판소리, 토끼와 거북이 크래프트, 보물찾기, 포토 부스 등 8개의 스테이션을 모두 체험하도록 한다.

특히 올해에는 문화회관과 파트너 쉽을 가지고 있는 러프 박물관 (Raupp Museum, Buffalo Grove)과 콜 어린이 박물관 (Kohl Children’s Museum, Glenview)이 행사에 함께 참여하며, 박주미 국악교실, 푸르내 크리에이티브 스튜디오 (PRUNAE Creative Studio), 가베 플러스 (Gabe Plus)가 하나씩의 스테이션을 운영할 계획으로 내용면에서 전에 없이 풍성한 행사가 될 것으로 자부한다.

Program:
The Children's Day event, ‘Byeol-ju Bu-jeon (The Rabbit’s Liver)’ will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at KCCoC Maru (Multipurpose Event Hall), museum, gallery and the main lobby. 100 pre-registered participants will be divided into groups and will explore varies experiences throughout 8 different stations.

All participants will receive a passport card. Once all of the stations have been completed and the passport has been stamped, a special prize/souvenir will be provided to those that complete all 8 stations.

모짜르트 인 더 모닝, 3월 콘서트

봄을 맞아 다시 시작하는 문화회관 목요음악회 시리즈 '모짜르트 인더 모닝' 3월 콘서트는 '이야기가 있는 뮤지컬 콘서트' 라는 주제로 바리톤 이진욱과 아티스티 보컬 앙상블이 함께하는 음악여행입니다. 우리에게 너무나도 익숙한 'Sister Act 1 & 2'와 '레미제라블' 의 명곡들을 시카고 청중들에게 선보일 예정입니다. 주변의 소중한 분들과 함께 콘서트에 오셔서 따뜻한 봄 인사를 나누시길 바랍니다.

지난 겨울 초연에 보내주신 성원에 힘입어 앙코르 공연을 준비하였습니다. 2회에 걸친 이번 공연에도 여러분의 많은 참석을 바랍니다.

1970, one of many Dal-dongnaes* in Seoul, when times were tough but happy, a time to reminisce about the past with music from that era... This Gala concert is a performance of Korean pop music as a newly presented musical number. We invite you to 'Dalgona', presented by Music and Arts Kollabo Chicago 'Mak' and hosted by Korean Cultural Center of Chicago.

*Dal-dongnae is a hillside neighborhood on the outskirts of Seoul. Dal (Moon) and Dongnae (village), literally translates to moon village due to its higher location on the hillside closer to the moon.

Lunar New Year Celebration

On Feb. 8-10, pianist Seong-Jin Cho and conductor Gemma New make their CSO debuts in a program featuring Beethoven's energetic Third Piano Concerto at Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Saturday, February 10: Celebrate the Lunar New Year with the Korean Culture Center of Chicago at 5:30pm in Grainger Ballroom. Learn about the Charye and Sebea Lunar New Year celebration, hear traditional Korean instruments and taste Korean traditional snacks! Event is free and open to all concert ticket holders. No additional tickets needed for entry.

한국 바이올린 제작의 선구자이신 이주호 선생님이 2024년 1월 4일 소천하셨습니다. 삼가 고인의 명복을 빕니다.

"내가 만든 바이올린이 연주가들에게 편하고 만족하는 악기가 된다면 큰 행복과 보람을 느낀다" 라고 하신 고인의 말씀이 생각납니다.
