We love to recognize our through . Today’s alumni spotlight is making huge waves in the tech world. Say “Hello” to class of 2006 graduate, Anthony Palma.
Palma attended Woodsdale Elementary School, Triadelphia Middle School, and Wheeling Park High School.
Palma is proof that at Wheeling Park, you can excel in both athletics and arts: he was the captain of both the football and track teams, and a state champion shuttle hurdler in 2006. Palma was also lead trombone in jazz band and active in band and orchestra.
“OCS and WPHS were tremendous support systems to me both personally and academically as I navigated the myriad of career paths I had in front of me based on my strengths and weaknesses. The teachers, staff, and coaches provided incredible guidance to me as I grew up and figured out what I wanted to pursue with my life. They also set me academically on a track where I graduated from West Virginia University with both Computer Science and Computer Engineering degrees plus a minor in Mathematics in just four years thanks to AP courses and a solid knowledge foundation,” Palma states.
Palma went on to Carnegie Mellon University and earned his MS in Entertainment Technology which launched him into his career in the video game industry today.
Today, Palma resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife Katy and their two dogs. “I am the Head of Gaming Partnerships at Mysten Labs, a blockchain technology firm, where I work with some of the biggest companies in the video game industry to help them build better games using our technology. I have served as a serial entrepreneur in the past, and as a Partner at a $1 Billion venture capital firm investing in video games prior to Mysten Labs. I advise several technology and gaming startups to help give back to entrepreneurs when I can be helpful.”
Thank you Anthony for sharing your story. We wish you continued success and look forward to hearing more about your accomplishments. Do you have an interesting alumni story? Email us on [email protected] to send us an update.
Soon to be sophomore Alicia broke 100 in the Pacer Challenge today.
Summer PE teacher, Mr. Goneau, states, ”This is a huge accomplishment from her first attempt, and she pushed herself to the brink to get to 100.”
Alicia is phenomenal student, and we are lucky to have her in Ohio County Schools!
Thank you for sharing, Mr. Goneau!

**Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Krystalyn Moncur!**
Join us in highlighting one of our fantastic teachers in 3rd grade, Mrs. Moncur! Originally from sunny Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mrs. Moncur brings warmth and enthusiasm to the hallways of Warwood Elementary School. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, she also holds certification in English as a Second Language, bringing valuable insight and perspective to our school community.
Mrs. Moncur particularly appreciates the welcoming atmosphere at Warwood Elementary. She fondly remembers the warm reception she received from staff, students, and the community when she moved to West Virginia.
Outside of teaching, Mrs. Moncur enjoys various outdoor activities and was a standout collegiate volleyball player. When she's not inspiring young minds or coaching sports, she enjoys Italian cuisine (she jokes she could dine at Olive Garden every day!).
Let's add one more piece of fun news: a huge congratulations to Mrs. Moncur, her husband Kenneth, and their beloved parakeet Thorn the Thunderbird, on their growing family, as they're expecting their first child in September!
Let's send some congratulations and thanks to Mrs. Moncur for her amazing news and her efforts to help our young Vikings grow!
