When this album hit the record stores, it was an instant buy. The moment the first cords came through the speakers, I was drawn in forever. David Crosby passed away today. Whatever will be said about him doesn't matter anymore. His music brought me countless hours of joy.

I have been working on updating my website. As I reviewed files of shots in Adobe Lightroom, I got a little sidetracked. In the San Francisco files, I started reviewing images. As I looked at the files of San Francisco, it made me think how much I miss it.Going through images, I came across a shot I took of a Bull Durham To***co ad....

Our last spring training road trip to Florida was from February to March 2020. That ended abruptly on March 15th, with the outbreak of COVID-19, with MLB canceling spring training. In 2021 we decided to stay home. Today, January 7th, 2020, we were greeted with winter's first significant snowfall. Up till today, except for a few days, the weather has been mild....

I have more subscriptions than most. But I do have a pet peeve. Regardless of the search engine one uses, for me, it’s google. You are reading a story on a website or looking up something to read the rest of the article, you are directed to the linked source, and what pops up, you have to buy a subscription to read this article. Annoying!

After the extreme heat, we had last week, we headed out for a lovely walk this morning. The temperature was 68°, the humidity was 51%. Mixed in with the walkers are the bicyclist. I am also a bicyclist. As an adult bicyclist, I understand the rules, unlike growing up in the 1950s.So, bikers put a bell on the handlebars, slow down, say on your left, and wear a helmet!...

I start my day at the gym next breakfast and The New York Times Time Machine to the year 1961. This year on Twitter, I'm tweeting the daily history of the New York Yankees 1961 season. The 1961 Yankees season is recognized as one of Major League Baseball's greatest teams. Propelled by the Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris home run chase of Babe Ruth's 60 home run record set in 1927....

Tomorrow June 19th, we will be taking the Metro-North Train to Yankee Stadium to see a ballgame. A first since March of 2019. The State of New York has lifted restrictions on the capacity for events. At Yankee Stadium tomorrow, we anticipate a large crowd in attendance. Though it will seem like old times, I think it will take time to get back to how life was before COVID-19.

May 5, 1961—I'm a freshman in high school. It's 10:34 AM. We were all standing huddled around a small TV in the classroom. Many of the teachers brought in TVs' that day to witness and historical moment. We watched in silence as Navy Commander Alan Shepard lifted off. Next, you could hear the excitement of that moment in the school building....

A night game at San Francisco AT&T Park in Black & White. When I started in photography, all I could afford to shot was Black & White. A few years ago, I dusted off my Nikon F5 and started reshooting film. At first, I shot 35mm color slides, then next, color negative film, and finally Black & White negative film. Of course, slide and film processing was an issue that ironically was solved next door to the building where I worked from 1971 - 1993....

Through The New York Times, Time Machine archives on Twitter, I'm recreating the Yankees 1961 season. Mickey Mantle hit 54 home runs, and Roger Maris hit 61, breaking Babe Ruth's record 60. Also lost to time, the Detroit Tigers (101-61) incredible run and pressure they put on the Yankees (109-53) into early September. But on this day, April 22, 1961, New York State approved the building of Shea Stadium in Flushing Queens, NY....

April 17, 1951, seventy years ago today, at Yankee Stadium, Mickey Mantle made his major league debut. It would also be Joe DiMaggio's last opening day game. Sixty years ago, the New York Yankees were on the eve of a new season. Last year on Twitter, I covered Babe Ruth's first season with the Yankees, 1920, through The New York Times——Time Machine—— Archives. I heard from many how much they enjoyed reading daily articles. It was historic not only because of the home run chase of Babe Ruth's home run record but also a battle for first place between the Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees....

Following a lengthy review of Yankee Stadium images, I chose these 25 pictures to show Yankee Stadium as it progressed and changed. They share a visual aspect, connecting the three stadiums, 100 years history. I selected June 13, 1922, as I felt it reflected the construction's beginnings. Knowing the opening picture's perspective, on March 19, 2010, I set out to take a picture from approximately the same camera location. The picture from August 16, 1937, depicts the final touches to the completed new triple-deck right-field stands. This look to Yankee Stadium would remain until the last game in 1973. Other pictures are of all five scoreboards. One is from 1973, thanking the fans at the last game at Yankee Stadium on September 30, 1973. Also included are pictures capturing the last pitch at Yankee Stadium II in 2008 and the first pitch at the new Yankee Stadium III in 2009.
This Limited-Edition Box Set is comprised of a vast archive of-one-of-a-kind pictures. The Black & White images are public domain. All the Color images were shot by Paul Plaine and are copyright protected and cannot be reproduced without written permission.

For 50-years, I have been involved in printing and making prints, a subject I will expand on in future blogs. Part of why I revised and updated my website was my desire to close down my fine art studio. Going into 2020, I was thinking about how to close down. As much as I love photography, I love printmaking. The shutdown allowed me to be away from the studio and think uninterrupted about what I wanted....
