Today we celebrate the freedom of all Americans. On June 19th, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas with news of freedom. This was a full 2.5 years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln. More than 250,000 African Americans embraced freedom by executive decree in what became known as Juneteenth or Freedom Day.
On June 17, 2021, it officially became a federal holiday.
Happy Juneteenth! Happy Freedom Day!

The temps are heating up in North Texas! A number of our citizens do not have adequate cooling systems in their homes, this can be a very dangerous situation during the Texas summer. We were able to use funding received from a community support grant to purchase fans to donate to Interfaith Outreach Services. They will be delivering these fans to those in need.
