Herbs are fresh in the Firefly Food Hub! Lemon basil is a hybrid herb with a strong lemon flavor and aroma, along with hints of cinnamon and mint. The scent is especially noticeable when the leaves are minced or cooked. Lemon basil can be used in many dishes, including salads, pasta, grilled meats and fish.

Purple Genovese Basil is a variety of sweet basil with deep purple leaves and stems, A member of the mint family, Genovese basil has a sweet and slightly spicy flavor. Basil is widely used in a variety of dishes, including pasta sauces, salads and soups. It is also a popular ingredient in many traditional medicine systems.

Sage is an earthy herb with hints of wood, pine, eucalyptus, citrus and pepper. Known to have many medicinal benefits, sage is often used to help with sore throat, memory loss, diabetes, high cholesterol levels and chemical inbalance in the brain.

Tarragon is a leafy green herb that is highly aromatic with a subtle licorice flavor. It adds a fresh, spring taste and a bit of elegance to a variety of recipes, including salad dressings, sauces, fish and chicken dishes. Tarragon is commonly used in French cooking.

Flat leaf parsley, also known as Italian parsley, has dark green, flat, large leaves. It has a strong, sweet flavor with hints of citrus, clove and nutmeg. Flat leaf parsley is more robust and flavorful than curly parsley. Flat-leaf parsley is also more heat tolerant and retains its flavor better, making it ideal for cooking. Incorporate flat leaf parsley as a beautiful finishing touch to enhance the flavor of other ingredients.
