Today is our last day as the operators of Placeholder. We’re still hoping to find some human(s) to take the torch and continue bringing coffee and hospitality to downtown Wichita. Announcements will be made here if and when there is news on that front. In the meantime, Placeholder will be closed.
Placeholder was born out of curiosity and a tongue-in-cheek nod to the transitory nature of existence. Thanks for joining us on the journey.
Love who and what you love for as long as you can. Let go of what no longer serves you. Cultivate space for paradox and mystery. Let pain lead you to joy. When fear narrows your vision and closes your heart, breathe deeply, look around, and lean into curiosity.

two roasters // one coffee
What happens when small businesses work together? Is it possible to create a world where working together is better for us individually AND collectively than busting it out on our own? How do we even start to do this?
This collaboration is a step into exploring these questions.
Our siblings .yet.coffee are partnering with our friends to release our individual interpretations of the same coffee presented side-by-side to celebrate similarities and differences in roasting style.
The coffee: Juan Filipe Artizibol, a delicious and clean natural from Colombia. We’ll have more specific tasting notes in the coming weeks, but expect stone fruit and a super sweet body.
Pre-orders start today in the bio link, with roasting and shipping the week of December 13. Only 50 boxes are available, so get on it if you wanna.

What isn’t a placeholder? Isn’t everything temporary? A work in progress? A piece of the puzzle? For us, Placeholder is the thing before the thing before the thing. We have ideas, dreams, even some road maps. But doesn’t every great journey take the time to enjoy the view? Placeholder is the planned pit stop on a long trip. It is being created as a Place to stop, stretch our legs, get a good snack, and take another look at the travel plans. Who knows, maybe we won’t even end up where we thought we were headed.
